Fitbit One active minutes treadmill

I've been walking on a treadmill to get my 10,000 steps total. When I've walked for 35 minutes, 30 active minutes have been registered. Tonight I walked for 65 mins at the same speed but only 19 active minutes have recorded. 😐 Why isn't the total higher?

What a great day to step into the Community @InspectorCat Happy

The active minutes are rewarded after 10 minutes of continuous moderate-to-intense activity, this means more strenuous activity than regular walking. Not every activity will award active minutes as they depend on the intensity of the activity. For example you could have walked 15,000 steps during your day and not get active minutes but you could only walk 5000 in 30 minutes that will show as active minutes since the activity was high or intense. I recommend to restart the one and make a test, if the active minutes are still not accurate, please contact our Support Team so they can check why this is not working properly.

Hi there,

I understand the active minutes and my One has been working fine up until the last three days. I walk every evening on the treadmill for 45-60 minutes, same speed etc and the active minutes recorded are always in line with the time I've spent on the machine. I've been averaging about 15,000 steps but my active minutes are now unusually low; tonight only 8 Active Minutes when the exact same conditions have previously awarded me with about 45 Active Minutes.

I've restarted the One. I've uninstalled the fitbit app and reinstalled it. I've updated the fitbit app in the app store. I've no idea what else I can do but the active minutes are not being recorded in the same way as they have been in previous months.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey @Inspector, nice to see you again! In this case, my recommendation is measuring your own stride length following these steps:

  1. Go to a track or some place where you're sure of the distance.
  2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
  3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Your running stride can be calculated the same way if you run instead of walk. Once you're done with the previous steps, change it from your Fitbit.com Dashboard, test the Fitbit again, if this doesn't work, feel free to contact our Support Team so they can check why is this happening.

I'll be around. Cat Embarassed
