Fitbit One rapid battery drain

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fibit One has suddenly begun to lose battery power rapidly. It lasts maybe a couple of days on a full charge.

Today when I plugged it in to charge, I checked it after five minutes and it had gone from empty to full. I can't believe that that is correct.

I noticed that the Fitbit App updated on 28/4/17 and am now wondering if the battery drain is real or is being 'misreported' by the app. This would seem to tie in with the sudden change of battery status I have experinced. Prior to this it would run quite happily for 7-10 days before I recharged it (well before it reached critical status).

Has anyone else had similar issues?

It started registering as 'Low' today, although when plugged in it shows about a quarter full  - so it seems to be working fine now. It is now at least 9 days since charging.

How did you contact customer service? When I tried to call, the number would not connect.

Yes, I have experienced the same issue.  I think it's an issue with the iphone Fitbit app.  When I removed the app from my phone and synched my Fitbit through my laptop, my normal battery life was restored.

I am convinced that is was an app update that caused the problem - as the rapid drain began just after a new release. A subsequent release seemed to fix it. I now keep All Day Sync switched off just in case they release another howler.

I have spoken with folks at two of the Fitbit service centers and they are aware that issues are developing with the Fitbit One battery life. The staff members are very helpful, but say that expected battery life between charges is 5 days, not the two weeks I expected. I believe they're considering an appropriate customer response to  this issue..

Yes. I am using iOS app and there is a problem according to FitBit Support.  I would recommend you let them know so that they will prioritize this issue.  It's frustrating.  It's not your One, it's the app, if you're using the iOS app.

Jogger-I have been discussing the battery drain problem with Fitbit Team
members for the last several weeks. In prior dealings with the Team, I have
found members to be helpful and focused on the customer. I have been told
by the Team recently that Fitbit engineers are addressing the problem. And
my battery drain problem seems to go beyond iPhone issues.

Yes same issue. Do you know how to shut off notifications? Ie you’ve reached your goal, etc... I don’t like the annoying notifications. I can see parameters with my eyes

Jogger-hi. I don't pay attention to Notifications so they haven't bothered
me. I'll see if I can come up with a way to stifle them.

Same problem here on both my one and my wife's. This started a few months ago but seems to have become much worse recently. Back when it first started I actually replaced my one because it was a few years old and I just assumed the battery was dying, but the new device was just as bad.

This is clearly a software issue.

Jogger-Have you discussed this with the Fitbit team? One of my
conversations suggested that Fitbit was considering how it was going to
"compensate its customers for the drainage problem.

Did you download the Fitbit program on your computer, or just the internet version?

the update killed a really good working One I had. I uninstalled the app, purchased a new One, and synced through the Mac-based program. Crossing my fingers it won’t update to 6.64. That killed my other one. Poor guy.

I too have Fitbit app on iPhone and desktop. My Fitbit One battery life has improved from about 4-1/2 days to about 10 days. This improvement occurred in the last 3-4 weeks.

I had the exact same situation with the Fit bit One.  I loved the device but frustrated with the battery which is only 2 years old.  Looking for a comparable replacement device but not having much success.  The One was perfect for my needs yet there is nothing similar with same features.

Madeleine-Call the Fitbit service/support team (877-623-4997) and discuss
the issue with them. From my conversations last year, I understood that the
problem was being addressed by Fitbit "engineers". And several weeks later
my battery began to last about 2 weeks again-which it still does.
