One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

Which location?

Found mine listed at Gadsden, AL store and had them transfer it to Huntsville, AL store where I picked it up. You just have to do a lot of searching.  Also I just checked and there are several currently listed for sale on EBay - new and used. Some over priced but most are reasonable.

I totally agree, business practices are about greed not product support.Hook the people then wean them off the inexpensive stuff by not offering it anymore.

I started with an Ulta (?) in 2012, and then got a One in 2013. I am on my third One, and have a new spare that I picked up on eBay waiting in the wings. Lucky move on my part, since I was unaware that Fitbit was going to discontinue a very popular model. I am angry as hell about Fitbit's decision to discontinue the One. I am angry that Fitbit did not use a banner on their website to notify users that the One was on its way out the way they push ads for new trackers. I kept seeing a banner asking me if I loved my One and to write a review about it...so I did in February 2017. Why did Fitbit request reviews on a product that they planned on discontinuing? Had I known that they were about to do this, I would never have wasted my time on the great review I gave them. In fact, I just deleted my review on Amazon.

I am a Massage therapist, my hands and wrists are in use constantly; I cannot wear a wrist tracker for work, and Fitbit's only other clip tracker, the Zip, is, IMHO, a grossly overpriced pedometer. I have no idea of what I will do when my new spare One dies.

In the five plus years that I have been a Fitbit user, I have seen the company focus on two things. First, they develop new tracker models for people who want newer-shinier-faster-sleeker-more bells and whistles than last year's model. Second, they scramble to patch their code to keep up with Android and IOs updates, leaving days- to weeks- long gaps in synching with a computer, and not a smartphone.

Case in point - the Aria scales being bumped off home WiFi networks, networks that the scales had been successfully paired to, that occurred back in February 2017. Fitbit was not listening when users were using the Community feature forums to discuss this. In disgust with Fitbit's support on this issue I threw out the Aria, bought a Poshei scale from Amazon that uses an Android or iPhone app, gives me more detailed information than the Aria ever did, and it was about 1/3 the price. Fitbit needs to realize that they do not make the only tracker, watch or scale out there and start really listening to customer feedback.

I've been a premium plan subscriber since 2012 and have spent over 5 years developing my own customized data base, to correct erroneous data that I find in the one from Fitbit. The most serious errors I have found have been with occasional calcium levels on the Fitbit database being 10x what they should be. Fitbit needs to listen to user feedback. I have taken my account off Auto-Renew for Premium. Fitbit needs to realize that they do not have the only diet and exercise tracking website.

Fitbit needs to listen to customers who are telling them that alternatives to wrist-only trackers are needed!

Putting an update on my One's battery charge.  Things suddenly seem MUCH better and back to normal, and I don't quite know what has changed because things were definitely weird for several weeks, at least.  I did a full overnight charge a week ago, so my One has been used and worn for a full week as of this morning.  I just checked, and the battery icon looks like the charge is at the halfway mark, and checking the Fitbit app tells me that the battery is at medium.  This is pretty much what the One always did, I'd get at least a week between charges.   I've had no "battery low" messages this last week, either.

I recently saw a lot of the app updates come in over a several week period and I downloaded them all.  The last one was on 11/27/17, and it just says "bug fixes and performance improvements".   Before I did the overnight charge on Dec. 1, I turned off the One, then restarted it.  I don't know if that made any difference in anything.  I haven't done anything with my IOS lately,  but I'm on an iPhone 8+ with IOS of 11.1.2.

I'm about to conclude that whatever issues may have been caused by the firmware update, the App updates must have fixed everything.

The One charger still appears on your on-line store, however it won't appear in cart.  I'm assuming it's sold out but still appearing.

The Zip does not have the same level of features.  Disappointing to lose the only discreet fitbit with more features.

@CMCM, you wrote "I am about to conclude that whatever issues may have been caused by the firmware update, the App updates must have fixed everything."

Good for you. My One never recovered a proper battery capacity to charge since the upgrade. Then it could be a rare coincidence. I managed to purchase a new device, still running v6.60, and will measure its charge time for a few cycles to set the "baseline". If ever upgrading to v6.6, i will have a reference benchmark. But in any case, I will anyway wait for further positive forum reports before making any upgrade attempt.

If anybody here is considering a Zip, don't do it!!!We have been having batteries issues for awhile now. We are seeing battery life of a week or two. It's too expensive to be replacing the battery that soon. Might as well look outside of Fitbit.

I too am terribly disappointed that Fitbit seems to be discontinuing the One.  I packed my first one for five years before it finally gave out on me and I did manage to order a new one right before the prices shot up.  I hate the wrist trackers and won't wear one.  I love my one stuck in my pocket.  Hopefully, this one will last another five years!

Fitbit just lost me as a customer. I use the One because it tracks floors and steps. The Zip does not track floors. I do not want a wrist tracker as I prefer my Swiss watches. Fitbit no longer has a device that is discreet and tracks floors, meaning they have nothing for me.

I also saw where new products would be announced later this year, but with 15 days before Christmas, I am skeptical. Why release something too late for Christmas sales?

Best Answer

I guess if FitBit no longer wants to sell a viable clip on tracker, I will have to move on to another product.  The Zip is no way an alternative for the One.  I have no interest in a wrist worn product.  As my One has recently turned up missing, I will look at other trackers besides FitBit.

Short answer, no.

Hello everyone! Thanks for your feedback. I know that the Fitbit One is loved. I will miss it too.

I understand that the Zip tracker alternative may not fulfill your needs. I was thinking in what other options could work in this case and the Flex 2 came to my mind. There is a pendant accessory for that tracker, so you don't need to wear it on your wrist. Ir doesn't track floors, but you can swim with it. Check its features here. Also, Flex 2 is one of the new generation of Fitbit trackers.

Would you consider getting a Flex 2?

See you around!

also a no from me. are you listening to feedback? we want a clip on, simple, discrete device. my fitness device is not a fashion statement, nor do i want to pay for something that is far too complex for my needs.

Best Answer

Absolute no on the Flex 2. I currently wear my ONE clipped to my bra.  I don't wear necklaces ... especially when I'm working out, like at Zumba or running? That would be crazy annoying.

The Flex 2 doesn't have a display like the ONE. I am constantly checking my numbers directly from my device. I don't want to have to sync and check my phone to see them. I use my one to track my specific workouts, starting the timer and using that while I work out to determine my time/numbers.

Trying to imagine sleep tracking with the pendant ... choke!

And I want the stairs feature (also missing in the "alta alternative")

I've been with Fitbit since 2010! I've sold so many people on Fitbit. My parents even invested in the company ... and lost quite a bit of money there too as stock value dropped. But I don't want to look to another company's product as part of the "fun" is that tons of family and friends have the Fitbit (because I recommended it to them) and I like to see how we stack up against each other. My sons currently use the Blaze, Alta and Zip. My dad the Surge, my mom the One. We are a Fitbit family.

I wish I understood the way business brains worked.

No, I wouldn't consider that an alternative. The pendant option is too
expensive (I can buy great jewelry for that price that I like a lot more)
and I want something that tracks stairs. End of story.

I would have considered a Flex 2 and a 3rd party clip, but it does not track floors.

Why not also drop the Zip and put new technology into a clip on discreet device that tracks floors in addition to steps / miles?

To SaintFitbit - no! That pendant is the fugliest thing I have seen. If you have half an ounce of sense you would manufacture and market your own clips for the Alta, you would finally get your heads around the fact other maufacturers do far more effective heart rate monitors that are worn purely when exercising... you know.. over the heart, and you would stop forcing your inferior alternatives built for wrists on everyone.

No display on the flex so I wouldn't consider it.  The One is what we need back.
