One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

But Fitbit doesn't care.  They're a bunch of geeks designing jewelry THEY want to wear and don't give a ____ about people who are serious about their health and fitness.

Let's start a list of reasons why we want a fully functional clip on and not one to wear on our wrist.  I am starting with a post from a little earlier, then adding my own reasons:

1.  Our Veteran population with hand injuries,

2.  The amputee community.

3.  the nursing home residents, etc--they just cannot wear a wristband unit.

4.  Ballroom Dancers (arms are very still)

5.  Bike riders

6.  Mothers pushing baby carriage

7.  Shoppers pushing cart of merchandise.

8.  Students carrying books.

9. Pushing a wheelchair

10. Using a walker

11. Playing soccer(or other sports) where a watch or any jewellery is forbidden.

12.  Formal or semi-formal occasion.

13. Plain don't want a wrist based activity tracker

14. Use more superior 3rd party products for some of the 'additional' functionality their wrist based trackers offer - for example I would never use their stuff to measure my HR while working out - Polar is a far more superior product in this market space and I trust their products more/I have more loyalty to that brand than I do to FitBit

15. Discretion - not everyone wants to bore everyone rigid with their step count - some people will just quietly get on with it and just do it for their own purposes

I think your post is so relevant and important! I tried to vote for It, but the fit bit voting system will not allow me to vote. This has happened several times before and it is very discouraging. when I try to vote it actually takes one vote away.

Hello Pat Dances.
This is a great list- very complete. We could add skin allergies to the
list.
How can we keep this list at the front? ( Like "bump" in an email chain) so
that newcomers see it?

I just did a reply to RFS_UK who added 14 and 15 to the list.  I selected 'quote' on the reply, so thus list is intact.

adding, at somone's suggestion:

16.  People with skin alergies

17.  All hospital people that interact with patients.

Yes, a friend just told me he developed a rash from wearing the charge hr
after having it for several years. So that would have been a candidate for
a one. 😠

Hi there,

How do I find that other post you referred to?
Thanks for your response. When I push vote for it takes away one vote when I push a second time it resets. Most time when I vote for a response it takes away a vote rather than add a vote.

I've noticed that, on the voting, too. I don't know how these posts work,
but it shouldn't be surprising it doesnt work right, considering how they
don't seem to care about losing so many customers

The One staircase counter uses an altimeter, and it is affected by windy conditions.  I could rack up a very healthy total of stairs taken on a blustery day!

Thanks for posting this information, @ScrapjenB:

So my boys gave me a Fitbit Versa for Mother's Day ... I was fine with my Charge2 (and of course still wearing my One on my torso all this time), but I guess now I CAN experiment with the Charge2. I mentioned the Garmin Vivofit 3rd party clip does fit the Charge2 pretty well (getting it in and out isn't the easiest thing it's true). I've found if you put the Charge2 in backwards and have the flashing sensors press against your skin (whether clipped inward at the waist, or on a bra) it IS still picking up a heart rate reading. I don't know how accurate it all is, I'll keep gathering data and comparing stats. Of course worn backwards, then the stat screen isn't visible (you'd have to take it out of the clip or check the app like you would with a Flex). If you've never had heart rate data, it is fun to have.

Some quick observations ... off the wrist, the Charge2 is now picking up MORE steps than the One during exercise (it was consistently lower when worn on the wrist). Floors were slightly inflated the first two days (they are more consistent today). Any barometric pressure changes or driving should affect all the devices the same regardless of where they are worn I would think ... but yesterday the "stairs" readings were One - 11, Versa - 15, Charge2 in Clip - 68. Sleep seemed to record pretty accurately, and if you were making a move from the One to the Charge (w/HR) the sleep data is more detailed (with REM, light, deep, awake... auto sleep tracking as well).

Total step/burn readings from yesterday across six devices after a busy day (hour elliptical, hour Zumba, four miles jog/walk + shopping, gardening and cleaning).

One ... 30398/3360. Charge2(clipped) ...31752/3301, Alta (clipped) ... 32726/3494, Versa (wrist) ... 30748/3828, Garmin Vivofit3 ... 27580/2466, MotivRing ... 26640/3136

Here's a link to a picture (sans Vivofit, Charge2 in wristband).

I'll continue my tracking 🙂
