One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

Thank you so much for this post! My one keeps randomly shutting off, so fitbit offered me a coupon to buy a new tracker, and I was so disappointed to find they don't make the one anymore. Especially since I've never been that interested in a wrist tracker. Knowing that I can put the alta in a third partly clip on and use it the same way I used the one has helped me decide what to do!

Best Answer

I actually have several extra clips for my one. Can I use those for the alta or would I need a differently sized clip?

Just so you know, if you reply  negatively, you will be removed - "when a post is inflammatory, with persistent negativity or profanity, it isn't adding much to the thread outside of hostility" and your posts will be removed. I guess that's the last I'll say about Fitbit. They took down the One, didn't care about 10,000 views and constant customer complaints. Just don't say it on their forum. Never another penny from me! And I'll say it everywhere else - other social media - as much as I like. But I don't really care anymore. All my other friends have already left Fitbit and feel the same way. What a waste of a huge, successful company!

Actually, it appears you do NOT continue to support the FitBit One. I needed to reinstall the Connect app for macOS and it will no longer connect to the One. In fact, the One is no longer listed as a device that can be connected to. So, you didn't just discontinue the best product you have ever made, you purged support for it.

I am very disappointed in your lousy business practices and your insulting disregard for customers.

Both my One and Aria scale are still working and will continue to use them until they fail or something compels me to replace them. But, to be sure, I will not be buying another FitBit product and will strongly recommend to anybody who asks they not become a customer of a company who treats their paying customers so horribly.

I am working hard to be proper and respectful in the post, but you can be assured that the words I am mumbling as I type this better represent how I feel about FitBit. And still, that is probably more respectful than you act towards us. Only gross depravity could free you from debilitating shame for the way you inflict business on your customers.

Well said

@joia260 While the One and Alta are similar in size, their shape is a bit different, the alta is more rectangular and has two end notches (which hook onto the bands) ... the Alta clip has spots for those end knobs to hook in securely. I didn't try the Alta in the One clip, but I don't think it would fit.

@Mammason58

I wear my One on my torso and a ChargeHR on my wrist (two separate FB accounts so I can compare the data). The wrist worn tracks exercise significantly less than the torso placement. My son has an Alta, and so I bought a 3rd party clip and borrowed his, and wore it next to my One for a couple days. I posted my data on a little blog post http://jenbsjourney.blogspot.com/2017/12/fitbit-one-done-alta-alternative.html  I compared steps for several individual workouts and for the entire day, and I was happy with the alta's counting when on my bra. A couple days ago my son didn't wear his alta so I clipped it again, onto my waist this time. The step count came in a bit higher than the One there (I only wore it for a few hours/two workouts as son came home from school and I gave it back to him).

@SLM2012 My son has the regular Alta (not HR) and hasn't had any battery issues. I remind him to be proactive and charge it each Sunday night ... but it definitely lasts the entire week. He keeps the "calls enabled" and bluetooth sync on. I charge my ChargeHR most nights, just because I can't wear it on my wrist as I sleep, but I think I could only go 3 days before needing a charge with it. Maybe it's the HR function that is draining the battery ...

This is the clip i used to test if it would work.

The alta won't work with the original fitbit one clip but it does for in this one. I made sure I didn't pick the magnetic one. I wanted the clip style. I was able to get it in black but currently it looks like purple or red are only available.

This is so disappointing.  I just washed my Fitbit One in the washing machine, and came online to discover this horrible news.  I am so incredibly sad that I'm going to have to research other companies for a replacement tracker if mine doesn't recover from its washing.  😞

I hope yours recovers....mine did! Mine went through the washer and the
dryer. It was weird for a few weeks, but it seems to have recovered.

I've done it twice, still working! Much more careful now that I can't get a replacement 😣 I hope fitbit realizes how much business they'll be losing.

More than that, I think they are creating more ill will by being continually disloyal to their already devoted customers, and figuring tough beebees, they'll make their losses up in new customers.
Good internet reviews by satisfied customers are important for future sales.

The ONE is a much loved Fitbit and fits the lifestyles of many. Why would you quit making a product that so many of us have purchased over and over; Personally I have replaced 5 of them and purchased several as gifts for my friends. Yes, I have tried your other products, and No, not one of them was right for me. I have not seen the accuracy of steps and stairs from any of you other products.I cannot and choose not to wear anything on my wrists, it interferes with my work. I am a nurse who washes her hands and forearms numerous times a day and does not want to bring the nasty stuff home I am exposed to at work on my Fitbit. Please bring back the One.

Hi Fitbit people.

Are there any plans to make a clip for the Flex 2?  If no, why not?
I think it is obvious from this thread that there are sufficient people wanting this feature for it to be worthwhile developing a new clipable tracker, or to retrofit an existing one.

Thanks.

@Vikstar  I think almost ALL the trackers would benefit from a clip option. My son wears the Blaze, and he likes it as a watch, but he can't wear it during basketball or other times and would love to be able to switch it to a clip for those times. I've heard it mentioned for the Charge2 too. The Alta does have a clip option, but it's a 3rd party offering it, not Fitbit. There are some Flex clips offered, also 3rd party. The only alternative Fitbit officially offers is a necklace, and that it for the Flex ...

Ironically Fitbit doesn't advocate wearing a device other than it is intended (a wrist device in a clip) ... but I experimented with an Alta in a clip, next to my One (worn on the torso) and it was much more accurate than the Charge2 I wear on my wrist (because yes, I wear two trackers, except during this experiment when I wore three 😉 )

Hi ScrapjenB and thanks for the reply.

There must be a technical reason why Fitbit have gone away from clipable.  The fact that only the Flex 2 is provided with alternatives like the pendant must mean something.  I understand that the devices with heart-rate monitoring like the Alta may not have full function when worn elsewhere than designed.  Maybe there are other calibrations that need to be done as well, which Fitbit don't wish to invest in?

However, if there is no other reason (as your testing seems to indicate) then I am absolutely of your opinion that all devices should have clips available - the clips will sell themselves, and increase the customer base to continue to include those of us who can't (or don't like to) wear things on our wrists.

Thanks again.

I don't think there's a technical reason a non-heart-rate-monitoring tracker can't be worn anywhere on your body.  In fact, the wrist is probably the worst place to wear a tracker, if you want accuracy.

Fitbit has gone away from the One because it's not visible.  They don't get free advertising from a device that's discretely clipped into a pocket or bra.  They only get that with their increasingly large and gaudy wrist-worn trackers.  The company is being run by people who are far too conscious of status and status symbols, and who don't have the sense to realize that there is a huge market for a tracker that doesn't have to be wrist-worn.  A moment of thought can bring to mind any number of professions where wearing something on the wrist is not only forbidden, but can be actively dangerous.  And then there's allergies to metal or rubber.  And then there's people who want to wear an actual watch, and not some plastic piece of junk.  The list goes on and on.

Unfortunately, the people who make these decisions don't seem to have any sense.  They don't seem to have any experience in the real world, with people of different ages and social strata.  They seem more concerned with how other people view them than anything else, and they assume everyone else cares about that as much as they do.

While I'm very unhappy with the company and the total and complete lack of sense displayed by their management, I went ahead and bought an Alta, and third-party clip.    The Alta is easy to unclip from the wristband, and the "TOMALL" brand of clip seems to be working nicely so far.  I'd tried a magnetic clip, but almost lost my Alta 5 times the first day I had it, because I can't seem to keep my hands out of my pockets...as strong as the magnet is, it's easily dislodged that way.  So far, I'm fairly happy with the Alta.  And I use the band it came with when I go to bed.

As a avid fitbit one user, I am very saddened to see the discontinuation of the fitbit one which is the only fitbit product I was interested in and am still interested in.  As a result, I am letting my current fitbit one go to end of life and then #fitbitnomore.  They don't listen to their customers despite having the demand.  Bye felicia!

My message didn't meet those criteria and it is still up.  Probably because it is, in particular, neither an uncontrolled rant nor profane.
