One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

Today mine was on, told time correctly,"grew"its flower - but didn't record any data! Also, would not sync with my phone for a few hours. Hasn't been syncing reliably since April 10 😵

Yup - I'm on this forum right now because I want something that tracks hills.

I think the Charge was doing it - but now that's gone too. 😞

As a runner, I like to track my hills. My One was great at doing that for me.

RIP FitBit One

I think Garmin has a wrist option which counts stairs (I assume that means hills also.)

I am not sure this is the proper place to ask, but I would like to know a bit about updates and the One. Since I figure most of the updates are geared towards other products, and some have caused problems for my One in the past, I am not updating. Is there any problem with NOT updating? I use my Macbook Pro to monitor data- mostly dependent on sleep data.

I'm always afraid to update since it usually causes problems, so i usually
wait a ling time before i finally do.

Please note: It is not an altimeter in the Fitbit ONE, it is a barometer. The point: measures height.

Barometers measure air pressure. Altimeters measure height.

In this case, as with most devices, barometric pressure is being used. Please see https://www.wired.com/story/how-to-measure-the-height-of-a-building-with-a-barometer/ for further info. An altimeter also uses barometric pressure. Thanks for the reply. Happy stair and hill climbing!

What's to say that Fitbit won't discontinue something else that I just plunk some money down.  A year ago when I was considering Fitbit,  I did consider all models but settled on One why because I liked that I can just clip on and forget about it, that it is water proof, that I don't have to wear something on my wrist, and that its the right price.

I only had about 1 year of use from One I am not really looking to purchase another Fitbit so soon.  This is most inconvenient to find out that Fitbit has discontinued it.

I still wants one that I can wear and I don't mean Zip.  why get a Zip if all it does is give steps and miles, I can get one of those cheap electronic ones that gave as much and I can clip onto my clothing as I wanted and they are as low as $10.  Its just one less app to check into.

Oh well, less work to do, not a bad idea.  Just saying...

Either way... not many other clip based alternatives now offer that type of measurement. I did just laugh out loud that they are STILL pushing the Zip as a suitable clip based a.ternative and STILL persisting in pushing people who do NOT want a wrist based tracker to... a wrist based tracker.

What’s next? Adding blood pressure and glucose monitoring? Is there a way to create a cardiogram on the wrist that can be sent to your doctor automatically? Are there really that many people who want to walk around with a doctor’s office on their wrist—while they listen to tunes and check the internet and their phone? There are still many who just want to track physical activity but cannot or will not wear an inaccurate wrist tracker.

It's funny you should say that - they are looking to move into the very lucrative market of flash glucose monitoring. As a diabetic, I was having all kinds of issues with the supply of the sensor I use (because THAT company is almost as **ahem**ically badly run as this one). The worst of it though is... as a journalist I cannot be finger pricking to test my BG 15 times a day so a Flash Glucose Monitoring system fast becomes a godsend, and above all a real necessity.

But someone else raised a good point (apols - not easy to double quote in here!) - who is to say if I put my faith (and monitoring my BG levels) in their hands they wouldn't manage to find some way to screw that up also.

Talk about 'better the devil you know' - the other company at least has tried to move everyone (regardless of whether you can get your testing kits on prescription or not) to pharmacies and thank god my days of dealing with their incompetent staff is long gone as I can order in my supplies at my pharmicist now.

I see where FitBit are going with this, but I suspect they really underestimate the power of customer loyalty... I know I am likely to advance from insulin resistance to dependance at some stage in my life. I have an alternative monitoring system to move to. Would any of their actions make me want to put my faith in whatever they develop in this space... good heavens above no. No way never, no how.

Yes, that is why when the barometric pressure changes quickly, (often for a
new weather pattern moving in fast) I get a lot for floors that day!!

Those on iPhone, the Apple folks list "barometric" as a function. Thanks for the replies. The important part is: the ONE was the one we all depended on. Fitbit is missing a large, and obviously, loyal group.

Hello @momice

I actually don't spend much time on this forum - other than on the phone while I am waiting for someone or something.

Because of that, I only recently noticed that the moderator HAD replied to me- I just didn't ever check that little email ikon at the top right.

Anyway, I had actually violated SEVERAL times by posting the same thing twice.

It happens with my iphone only. When I first try to reply, it sends back a message saying the post is not accepted, so I send a second post- then they are BOTH posted.

One suggestion from a moderator was that when it is rejected, there is a drop down " options" arrow that allows me to edit my first post. Haven't tried it yet because I haven't used my phone to post but it sounds like a good suggestion to me.

The cross posting warning was just to clean things up and when I looked, I had actually been a multiple offender so the moderators were quite patient ( I assume they were sending me multiple (unread) messages and I kept on repeating the offence.

Cheers

I was a fit bit one user until after a third time in the washing machine it stopped working ( almost indestructable). Now I am unable to buy a replacement as fit but ones have been discontinued - why? It was really easy to use, had rechargeable battery, functions were good and was discreet. I cannot use a wristband due to my occupation and do not wish to buy a zip as there are so many negative reviews about the fit bit zip and it does not have all the functions of the fit bit one. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a relaunch of the fit bit one to be available in the near future, or unfortunately I will require to buy another brand of tracker.
