that breaks fitbit one in the first place!

As already reported in this forum, I had successfully upgraded my Once
device and the One of my wife. Lucky me.

But I must now erport that the battery is draining much more faster that it
used to be: even with the workaround of disabling any background
synchronization I know barely sustain the device for about 2 days only
(instead of the couple of weeks it used to serve in the past (before August
IOS app upgrade) and the ~5 days without background synch as a workaround
(before the latest firmware upgrade). ;/

Anybody else who successfully upgraded noticed an autonomy degradation?
What about the experience of the ones who received brand new replacement
devices?

Cheers,

Philippe

My replacement ONE, wasn't new it was a reconditioned device. It came with
steps and miles on it!! LOL

I'm appreciative of getting the device as it works well, no battery drain.
Syncs with my Andriod phone and the FB app on my laptop,

I have updated software on my phone but didn't upgrade the firmware after my
last disaster.

It would be my hope that Fitbit would send a corrected firmware patch, that
remains to be seen.

Cheers,

Hi,

I don't care if it is an used device as long as it works. 🙂 "Reconditioning" strictly speaking is not possible as the One is almost impossible to repair.

IMHO it would be nice from FitBit to update the firmware before sending those replacements out to demonstrate that the 6.64 version indeed works! 😉

Did it arrive in a padded mailing envelope?   After syncing, my replacement One showed it had logged steps for the prior three days, while it was in transit.   I noticed that the One was already powered on when it arrived... I'm guessing the envelope was squeezed in just the right way to press the button during shipping, so it turned on and recorded all the bumps and steps of the mail processing and carrier along the way.   In a way, it sort of made up for the steps that didn't get logged while waiting for the replacement to arrive.  🙂

Yes, it did have a padded envelope. The steps may have been from transit. I
just assumed that is was a refurbished device.

I agree. I'd definitely lost 12 days of syncing, so any bonus was
appreciated.

Well, I came here to find out why my 21 month old One battery was suddenly running down so quickly.  All this time I would get 7 to 10 days from a charge, and the last week or two it has been running down in just a couple of days.  it's a quick run-down, too...from seemingly a full charge to totally dead, and it is only revived by time on the charger.  I have read all the posts, and wasn't aware that there had been any kind of firmware update.  I did check on the app and it says "Version 64, so I assume that is the 6.64 firmware.  How it got updated, I don't really know, I didn't knowingly update it.  The other odd things I've noticed lately is that when I open the Fitbit app on my iPhone 8+, rather than being open all the time I have to keep logging in.  However, I haven't had a synching problem, that end of things seems to be working.  Not sure what to do about the sudden battery drain, but will call Fitbit tomorrow.  I sure hate to find out the One is going away...I love this device, and do not want a thing on my wrist.  And this was the only one that has a stair count, which I really like and need, plus the visuals on it if you want to see # of steps, flights of stairs, etc.

Yes, I too have seen very sporadic battery discharge. Sometimes it is fine, but other times is seems to discharge within a few days.

OK I have been having no luck updating my Fitbit One since the last IOS update...seems to be a problem for others of you.  I have tried the suggestions on the blog - NO Luck!!!!  Now I read that the new update may have done my ONE in - I am not happy - will not wear a wrist Fitbit as I feel you are cheating and getting more steps as you move your arm around while working at a desk.

If this can not be fixed - I am seriously thinking of giving up on Apple - my computer has been acting up (again) and now I lost a couple of days worth of points for my insurance.  I do not want to pay $100+ for a new device - Ugh

it seems that the fitbit one firmware update has destroyed many/most of the
model. Complain loud and long with fitbit to get them to replace the
fitbit one with the previous firmware!

I’m so disappointed! I love my One as it’s discreet and tiny. And now the battery drains in 36 hrs vs almost 10 days not long ago.

i noticed that too... i guess fitbit planned this...."planned obsolescence"
so we all would get the tiny flex 2 that can be carried around in your
pocket or fitted with a magnetic clip clasp...🙄

@Cullzer indeed: the main degradation was introduced in August IOS app upgrade.

A “kind of” workaround had been to disable background sync.

but since last week (upgraded one device firmware, upgrade fitbit iOS app, upgrade fitbit connect app on pc) it aggravates drastically. I know barely keep battery on for one single day instead if the 2-3 weeks not so long ago.

there is no doubt that the root cause are software changes, not the devices hardware

I chose the One as well because no one knows I have a Fitbit as the stair counter! I am so sad about the battery drain.

I wont go to the wrist fitbits either. Too expensive as well!

i dont have the receipt for the fitbit one now...i bought a new one because
i lost the other :(, but no receipt...threw it out.
I bought the fitbit flex 2 from amazon though... plus the magnetic clasp
clip to attach to my pants or put in the pocket....but i almost lost it as
i was fumbling with the car keys and the clip with the flex 2 fell out and
i never noticed....until 4 hours later....luckily i found it again

Hi- I love that I can clip mine in my pocket- I really am not happy that it suddenly doesn’t work, can’t update or that I am being forced to purchase another device when my was totally fine 😖. Might just use the health app on my phone - but would still need to buy clip for my waist band.

Hugely disappointed

Since the 6.64 update my One has been lasting less than two days. It's not the IOS app, because I'm using Android...

Ironic when the release notes say version 6 was supposed to increase battery life to 2 weeks... seems like they reconsidered and went the other way.

I don't see any other Fitbit product now that suits my requirements.

i noticed the weak battery life as well yesterday. I charged the One on
sunday, it was down 3/4 of the way by tuesday.

PLUS i couldnt sync it after i just did that sunday and monday. I ended up
"restarting" the One again, deleting it on the android phone and setting it
up again. VERY ANNOYING!

*glaring look at fitbit*!!

I’ve had a ONE since they were released exactly for all the reasons listed - small, tracks stairs climbed, not on wrist, etc. I’ve never had any problems that weren’t solved with a quick call to customer support. That’s been the case through two iPhones, and many iOS and Fitbit app updates. Even this last firmware update went flawlessly - received it within the last week.

All of that ground to a sad halt this week.   The battery life suddenly isn’t lasting two days since the firmware update. Contacted customer support and received a couple of halfhearted suggestions and then got the same 25% off offer others have received. There is no way to revert the firmware update?

I’ll try to limp along for a couple of more weeks, hoping that a firmware fix is on the way, but if not I’m bailing with everyone else. Fitbit doesn’t have any other comparable products and my last customer service experience has me doubtful that fix will materialize. RIP ONE. I’ll miss that bulge in my bra or pocket.

The really annoying thing is that I'm not getting any low battery notifications, which means I only discover it needs charging when it's dead and all the data is gone...
