Accuracy problems

Hi everyone,
I have the charge HR and I love it. I haven't had any problems until this past week when I noticed the the data is wildly inaccurate when it syncs to my dashboard. The data still appears accurate on the Fitbit itself though. I'm just not sure why the data from my Fitbit won't sync accurately to my app dashboard. For example, my dashboard will say that I have over 1,000 steps when I first wake up or it will give me 43 flights of stairs when I've only been sitting around at work. Has this happened to anyone else? How did you fix it?

Hey @Sara_G, welcome to the Community! Robot Very Happy Sounds pretty weird that your data is not correctly syncing with your iOS device. Let me suggest you a few things to fix this:

- Log out from the Fitbit app

- Log back in

- Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone

- Reboot your phone

- Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone

- Then try to sync again

Let me know if that works!

Hey @mets5, is is great to see new members around! Besides the factory reset, did you try the steps I posted above? If so, and your Charge HR still not syncing or it takes like forever to sync, I suggest you to contact Fitbit Support and let them know what you have tried so far. I'm pretty sure they will find a solution for you. Smiley Wink

I have a charge HR that is almost a year old and in the last 2 weeks I have noticed that it doesn't appear to be counting my steps accurately. After walking on the treadmill for almost 40 minutes my step count was close to 5000, but now it shows about 2500. Is there anything I can try or should I get a new one?

Hi @jbrad390, welcome to the Forums! Robot Happy So let me see if I understood. So your Charge HR tracked around 5,000 steps when you were on the treadmill for around 40 minutes and now it counts approximately 2,500 steps, right? If so, you could try a restart and then repeat your routine. You could also take a look at your stride length and edit it and see how that changes your amount of steps and your distance as well.

Let me know how it goes!

I followed all the instructions and my active minutes are still not syncing correctly.

Hi @GNJJ, welcome to the forums! Let me explain you how the active minutes work. Your Fitbit tracker recognizes and awards active minutes when the activity you're doing is more strenuous than regular walking, which includes everything from a brisk walk to a cardio workout or run. All Fitbit trackers calculate active minutes using metabolic equivalents (METs). METs help measure the energy expenditure of various activities. Because they do so in a comparable way among persons of different weights, METs are widely used as indicators for exercise intensity. For example, a MET of 1 indicates a body at rest. Fitbit trackers estimate your MET value in any given minute by calculating the intensity of your activity. You earn active minutes for activities at or above about 3 METs. However, if an activity gives you active minutes one day and fewer active minutes the next day, remember that the intensity of exercise is key. Often what seems like the exact same amount of effort over the same distance in fact differs slightly enough to change your active minutes total. Remember also that, by default, the recommended amount of active minutes is from 20 to 30 minutes of daily moderate to intense activity. Something else that I would like to add is that, trackers with heart-rate sensing do a better job of recognizing active minutes for non-step-based activities, such as weight lifting, strenuous yoga, and rowing. That being said, I would like to know what it is the activity that you are doin' and for how long?

I do a moderate walk for 30-45 min each day. Many days I also use the fit board for about 20 min.

Thanks for your response @GNJJ! I think that maybe your walking aren't as intense to be logged as active minutes, even though they are about 30 to 45 minute long. In addition, I don't know if you already tried it, but you can perform a restart of your tracker and then see how it goes.

Keep me posted!

I use my fitbit to monitor my heart rate during exercise, but I have a recurring problem.  My wrist monitor will show a different heart rate than what ends up showing when I review my stats on the app.  It is significantly different.  My wrist monitor will show my heart rate up to like 145 and the app will later only show it as high as 130.  I’ve written to customer service several times about this issue.  I’ve tried everything they suggested.  It will work for a while and then get out of synch again.  I’ve worn fitbits for years but I’m about to give up on them.
