I can't understand why the charge 2 strap doesn't cover the entire back of unit. The metal bits are rusted from sweating. Anyone else have the same problem?

Let me help you with your damaged Charge 2. For this type of issue I would suggest you contact our Support team. I noticed that you already have a ticket with them so keep working with the team to find a solution.
