I am having difficulty in changing KM to miles, advice will be greatly appreciated

You can do this via the web interface at https://www.fitbit.com/settings/profile

 

scroll down to the "units" section and change the "length" unit from "centimeters" to "feet/inches". Save the change and then sync your fitbit to copy across the changes.
