Love my Fitbit but hate that my screen has cracked down the middle. I have not dropped it or done anything weird just put it in charge and woke up to a cracked screen. It seems to have warped and now I cannot read the time etc. still works and syncs to phone but cannot use it as a watch 😢 Seems to be a common occurrence with these watches. Can you get the screen replaced?

Wife got a replacement last October and that one has now cracked in exactly the same way.

shes still under warranty so I’ll be expecting a third Fitbit on her wrist after I report it.

Its without doubt a design fault.

What a useless response. Just keep repeating the same useless mantra.

Don’t be too certain. I had a Surge replaced when it was still in warranty. The strap broke and was not replaceable, so I got a new Surge under the warranty. However the same thing happened again so I complained and asked for a new replacement under the new warranty. It was still under one year old. I was then told, sorry, the original warranty applies and your Surge is out of warranty even though it was less than a year old.

So I researched on the Internet and found a supplier in China offering replacement straps for a Surge. It came with instructions on how to remove the original strap and fit the new strap. Cost me only a few £s.

i now have a Charge 2 with the cracks as seen in the pictures. It is out of warranty, it still works so I will not bother with Fitbit customer service, they are a waste of space and my time. When it final expires, I will go back to my old Surge until that expires. Then I will look at alternates to FitBit.

My Fitbit charge 2 screen has also cracked.

If only I could find a supplier of the front glass for Charge 2 I'd be prepared to have a go at fixing mine myself. Can't find one anywhere. Fitbit say that it's not repairable, but with the right tools and technique it probably is. Just too much hassle for them. Providing decent customer support also appears to be too much hassle for Fitbit.

I found this today and will be ordering.  Looks like lots of FitBit owners have switched and fell in love and for the price...it's amazing.

It's possible to switch to Garmin and keep your data.  The Fitbit Website has an export to file option.  Each month of data can be exported as a .csv file.   Then on the Garmin website under your new device, the .csv (comma separated value) file can be imported.   I imported a year of step data into my new Garmin account quite a while ago.  It worked pretty well.

I don't have a Charge 2, I have an Inspire HR....

It is only 2 weeks old.

I went for a walk at the park in the nice sunshine today. This morning I looked at it and it was perfect...went for my stroll....

Nothing notable happened. I didn't fall..Or bang my arm...or run face first into a tree....yet when I arrived home and went to check my steps the front of the tracker has a horizontal crack. There are no chips on the outside. No obvious signs of impact.

Obviously I was thoroughly confused as to how that could be possible. Then I found this forum. Sigh.

Contacted Fitbit live chat. She went through the motions of having me take a picture with a case number...then gave me a generic copy pasted paragraph about how screen scratches and cracks aren't covered by their 1 year warranty.

So now...2 weeks into my purchase... I have a cracked nearly £90 watch that is certainly not waterproof, sure to get worse, yet covered by a warranty...which is basically useless.

If you are in the UK explain to their rep you are not claiming under their warranty which is what they choose to offer you. Explain that you are complaining under consumer law and that they have a legal duty to supply their goods as fit for purpose. There is now way something so new can be fit for purpose so they have a duty to sort this out and it is nothing to do with a worthless warranty

Hi, thanks for that. It would be great if you could let me know how you go. Where I see the problem is that it will be hard to proof that the screen has cracked without external force.

Thanks!

I’ve been in touch with Fitbit, who requested a photo with case number. I’ve been offered 25% discount off a new tracker.

I bought mine at Costco and when I couldn’t get any satisfaction from Fitbit, Costco gave me a full refund!

What did you do to get the refund from Costco? I bought mine from them, but
a little over 2 years ago. Not sure if they will accept it ...

My screen just cracked also.  I am seeing a lot of post on this issue.  What is the best way to contact Fitbit?  Can I try a replacement screen?

Hi,

What I understand there is no replacement screen and the feedback I have got is that you can try fitbit (don't know how though) but they are not very helpful or generous.

Fitbit will deny any possibility that the product is faulty and will offer to sell you a new one for 75% of the full price.
