Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Nitjin! I'm afraid to say that the reason why you cannot get notifications on your Charge 2 is due to your Galaxy A8+ is not a supported device. See the Galaxy "8" compatible at the moment:

This means that our Android team has not yet tested the Galaxy A8+ for compatibility and added it to the list what means that we don't have a estimated date on when it will be added. Our team is always working to test and add more Android devices to the supported devices list, so keep an eye open for updates! Smiley Wink

Hey guys @Nitjin @rocchino @Chetan_Gangoli thanks for stopping by!  The developer team is aware of the need to add new devices to the list of compatible devices. This means that our Android team has not yet tested it for compatibility and added it to the list what means that we don't have a estimated date on when it will be added. There are some users who can synchronize with non-compatible devices. If your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat), you can try the tips on the following help article: Synchronization troubleshoot, set up troubleshoot or even notifications troubleshoot.

Note that we don't guarantee that the synchronization would be will be successful as we are still testing on this phone model.

If setup does not work, I recommend setting up and syncing via a device listed as supported or using a Windows 10/Mac computer with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 running the Fitbit Software. Our Android team is always working to test and add more Android devices to the supported devices list, so keep an eye open for updates!

But... if you want, we can try some steps that have worked for my sister. She owns a Huawei which is not yet a supported device, but she has tried the following (which I think won't hurt if you try that as well) and she made it:

1. Your phone must not be set to "visible for other devices"
2. Your phone must not be "searching for other devices"

If either of these two things are active, the Fitbit cannot connect.

In other words, you have to set it to invisible, and you have to click the stop button if it is searching for devices. So, Bluetooth should be on, but not doing anything at all in the Bluetooth menu. Then force quit the Fitbit app and it'll sync. At least it has done with my sister's phone for over a month or so.

Give this a shot, I'm crossing my fingers! Robot wink

This is really frustrating because none of your suggestions appear to work.  The Samsung A8 is no longer a new phone therefore your claim that you are 'always testing new devices' is somewhat lacking.  Receiving phone notifications on my fitbit should be an automatic and is an important feature that I want restored now that I have this newer phone.  If this is being restricted because your company has not yet 'tested' the A8 then I for one am greatly disappointed.  Get on board fitbit.  Either add the Samsung A8 as a compatible device or find a way for A8 users to receive notifications from their phones.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @yiorgos111! Thank you for the thorough feedback for the Fitbit devices. This has not gone unnoticed and be sure that I will pass this along.

We don't want to create frustration in our customers. Fitbit has been designed to provide motivation and help you to reach your daily goals to success. Since this phone is not supported yet, I'd recommend trying what I posted above

I'd be interested to.lnow if there are any A8 users put there that can get the workarounds to actually work. I've tried everything but no luck. I bought the Charge 2 specifically for this feature as I wear earmuffs when working. It worked (intermittently) on my S4 after resetting it several times a week but that phone died hence getting the A8, where it clearly doesn't work.

Hi,

Many of A8 users tried all the possible solutions, but there isn't a
desireful result. It's been almost 6 months, I have started the post and I
am not sure when the Fitbit team integrates A8 or will they work on this
stuff.

Let's wait and see

Cheers,

I just bought this phone today upgrading from an S6 😂. The main reason I have a fitbit was for the vibrating notifications while I'm at work. I kept missing calls from my boss. Now im back to the same problem when I didnt have a fitbit. This is really disappointing.

Hi

Seriously is this true that I have just upgraded from a Samsung S6 to an A8 and it is not comparable with my fitbit?

It doesn't receive the notifications to the fitbit. Like when someone is
ringing or texting. This is the msin reason why i purchased a fitbit.

The problem is when your phone is lock mode, then your notifications need to be turned on for messaging even when locked.  I couldn't read Texts on my android until I changed 2 settings on my phone:

Settings (general phone settings) >App>Messages>Notifications>

Allow Notifications>ON

On Lock Screen>Show Content

Also,

Open Messages>Tap 3 dots at top>Settings>Notifications>

Popup Display > ON

Preview Message > ON

Hope that helps you!

Thanks, but that doesn't make a difference on an A8. Still won't get notifications. It's solely up to Fitbit to sort this.
