Charge 2 screen went black. The green lights on still. I tried charging, restarting but no luck. It vibrates and shows working on app. Any ideas???

I went with a new charge 3.

That is costly! My charge 2 is not that old.

Thank you all for responding, I guess I had 2 years wear from it and its now died.  Sad as I dislike the throw away culture.  I will look at basic cheap option for now as funds can not stretch to another fitbit even with a discount.

Same here - seems like the fitbits are "programmed" to last two years! My previous fitbit did the same almost 2 years to the day,  as did my husbands more expensive Fitbit Surge as well. Will have to look at alternatives!

Unfortunately it is the end. I kept messaging trying to get a resolution
and they offered me a coupon for a new one.

Better than nothing, but these devices should last a lot longer.

I agree with you. I did not have mine that long, it definitely could have
qualified for a replacement. But with as many replies as I see to this
thread tells me that it is way too common so it would be very expensive to
replace all of these.

Perhaps that’s exactly the point.  What a great way to goose sales so google doesn’t want to pull out of the acquisition.  Unfortunately apple has demonstrated with their phone batteries that Fitbit isn’t the only company to do this.

My wife and I both have charge 2’s.  Both bricked within a week of each other with the same symptoms.  Black screen but still syncs.  Now that a few weeks have passed, my wife’s is now a total brick, nothing works and has trouble syncing (green lights/sensors are no longer flashing, just a solid dull green).  Mine will still show the screen during reset, but as soon as it’s removed from the charger it goes black again.  I find it a suspicious coincidence that both bricked at the same time.  I think this was likely caused by a recent software or app update, but I don’t know what options we have.  I’m not inclined to invest in another Fitbit as I know several with charge 3’s and charge 4s and have never ending issues with syncing and the screen dimming.

One person said changing watch faces fixed theirs but I don’t think this
works in most cases. My daughter’s Charge 2 is still running fine. She
wants it to die to get a new one with more features. When I looked closely
at the screen on mine it had a haze on the inside like a mist of moisture.
It didn’t go black all at once the screen started messing up over a week
long time period until it flashed white and then went dark. My wife felt
the battery in her’s went bad, it was a year older than mine. In any case
her charge 3 and my Ionic are rated as water resistant where as charge 2s
were not. I got a discount on my Ionic and bought it with a credit card
that gives me an extra year of warranty with purchases. I like checking my
SpO2 each day with my Ionic. I had a G-Shock watch for over 1O years so
yes it would have been nice for my charge 2 to have lasted that long :-}

My daughter’s charge 2 is working fine. She had it before I got mine. My
wife’s lasted a year longer than mine but the battery life seemed to be
getting too short and she didn’t like having to charge it as often as an
Apple Watch. Being an avid fisherman and a sweaty person I think mine was
moisture related. The end result apparently has multiple causes. I don’t
know of a fitness device from that time period that has a great durability
record.

I just had my screen show a bunch of scribbles on it. I tried to restart it, and now I have a blank screen. The alarm works, and it is still tracking on the app. But I can't see anything on the fitbit face.

Sounds like how mine quit.

I don't know of any fix. If it works with the app that is the only option
until it quits completely.

Hi, this also happened to me! Any ideas?

Use it as is if it works with the app or upgrade to a new version on a
Black Friday sale.

Same for me, the screen of my charge 2 is not showing anything anymore, but still is vibrating and still seems to count steps.

I feel 2 1/2 years is not a very long lifetime for this watch. 😞
My first Fitbit charge also was not functioning for too long. Therefore, I am quite disappointed with the quality!
Yesterday the display still went on for some time… but the screen was showing just showing 'funny' signs and mirror inverted. Did anyone else had something similar? This morning the screen was black again.

Same thing has happened to me. Frustrating that this would happen after only 2 years. Looks like there is no fix!

I only know of one of my daughter’s experience with Apple watches and they
haven’t been any better as far as durability goes. Maybe other apple users
have had better experiences with them. She is also more likely to upgrade
because of newer features.

Hello, my Fitbit charge 2 is doing just like the two before me. Charges and vibrates but screen is black. Any advice besides the once you gave earlier. Tried them and didn’t work for me.

I have no other advice for people.

It would be great if Fitbit would address this issue after all these years.
