Charge 2 Meltdown

Had an excellent record Step day last Saturday for me, and for some reason the heart rate monitor stopped working.  Everything else was OK.  Gave it some time to sort itself out on its own (only recharged and synced), but to no success.  Looked in here and found the articles for cleaning the contacts, changing USB port, reset the Fitbit device, change the clock face, disable heart rate monitoring, etc.  After that, it started a complete meltdown!  The screen would be blank, would be OK after a reset for a few minutes, and then begin to meltdown again ( show only part of screen, look like the display was scrambled everywhere, battery draining in less than 6 hours). 

 

Any thoughts on how to "fix" or am I stuck in the "get a new one" mode?
