Charge 2 is constantly vibrating and changing through the screen menu

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was woken this morning to my fitbit vibrating constantly as it was entering and exiting the timer mode, then found that it would randomaly shuffle through menus as if the button was being pressed and sometimes held.  I started to google on my phone what was happening and shortly after I started searching it stopped.  so I layed back down and within five minutes it started again. I looked up restarting my fitbit and preformed that. it contunued to act as though it was being pressed.  I tried restarting it a couple more times and it seems to have stopped for now.  but I was wondering what could have caused this.

Hey @MijHataki, it is cool to see new faces aboard! Cat Happy So in other words, your Charge 2 is randomly vibrating, right? If you already tried to restart it but the issue persists, then I suggest you to wait until the battery of your Fitbit drains out and it just turn off. Then plug it to charge it and perform another restart. Keep an eye of the behavior.

If the issue persists, let me know! 😉

Hello,

I am having the same problem. I recharge my Fitbit Charge 2 and when I try to use it, the tracker flies through screens like I am constantly pressing the side button. It runs the battery down in a couple of hours. Have restarted and OK for a little while and then goes through the same thing. Know anything I can do? It is completely useless to me at this point.

My charge 2 started doing this last week while on holiday, it randomly switches on and scrolls through the menu's and is draining the battery rapidly.

I have restarted it repeatedly, and allowed it to drain completely then charged and restarted it with no joy.

I have left it fully depleted for 4-5 days and repeated the charge and restarted, again this has not worked and is continuing with the same fault.

I have also noticed that there appears to be 2 lines of the display not working only when displaying the time, so there are 2 black lines running through the time from left to right. The display shows the top line works, the next line doesn't, 3rd line working then 4th not and the rest of the display is fine.

Any help would be appreciated as it is no use to me at the moment.

Thanks, Mark.

My Charge 2 is doing this as well. It will occasionally stop in Relax mode or Timer mode and then won’t switch screens when I tap or press the side button. I’ve tried resetting it while on the charger and still doing the same thing.

That is exactly what mine was doing for over 45 minutes. It has now gone back to normal without my doing anything. I did notice that last week that it started at the top losing lines in the digital readout. That has slowly worked its way down through the date. I ordered another one because I know the life expectancy is about to expire.  Do they only last about a year and a half?  I really like them and am considering buying them for my PE classes but that’s not a lot of product for the money

I just had this happen to me as well.  It just started to fluctuate between screens  vibrating like crazy while I was sitting in a meeting. It eventually stopped, and started, off and on for a couple days.  Support told me to restart, which didn’t work, and then offered 25% off a new device... insulting after lasting only a bit more than a year and a half.  I had fully intended on buying the charge 3, in November, but now I’m shopping Apple watches... I love (LOVE) the app but $150 should get you more time with a device.

I would expect the life expectancy of a £25 version to last around that time, if I spent £100 on a watch and it failed I would be straight back to the shop and expecting it to be repaired or replaced.

As I got it as a gift I don’t have the receipt or which shop it was purchased from, anything less than 3 years is not fit for purpose in my opinion.

Hey guys, I hope you are doin' great!

@Danyella502, beside the restart that you already tried, could you please wait until the battery drains out, recharge it, and then restart it again?

@Lemon, sounds good that your Charge 2 is working fine now. Now in regards of life expectancy, I can't tell you how long they do it, but rest assure that if you take good care of it, it won't give you issues. Mine for example has 2 years and still working perfect!

@wifost, oh! I'm sorry to hear about the inconvenience you had with your Charge 2 and thanks for contacting our Support team for further help. Now about the discount they offered you, this is because the warranty changes depending on your country of residence and also on how long ago did your purchase your Fitbit.

@MarkEB, did you already get in touch with our Support team about this?

Keep me posted guys!

Yes I had an email asking my country and how I got it and replied this morning, I got a message about an hour ago offering a full replacement or 50% off another Fitbit. Very happy with the speed and resolution from yourselves.

@wifost Same! While I bought mine 2 years ago this Christmas I would expect a $150 watch to last a lot longer. I reached out to Fitbit on Twitter as well and while they were quick to respond I am insulted with a 25% off coupon.

It depends on your country’s trading standards, as market leaders I would have argued that it wasn’t fit for purpose if less than 3 years old. Usually I go to where I purchased it from as that is where you have the purchase agreement.

I really don’t know how you take care of them. I wear it everyday. I take it off when I might get it wet.  I don’t think the problem with the screen doing that is anything that I’ve done wrong. I wish they lasted longer but this way I can get a charge 3.

Hi Heydy,

I fully understand that my device is a few months out of the 1-year warranty.  I am disappointed with the company's unwillingness to work with their customers with any period outside of the warranty, be it with a refurbished replacement or something similar.  I would expect a US-based consumer electronics company trying to facilitate user base growth to stand by their product more since they rely on repeat customers and word-of-mouth marketing.

Additionally, it is unfortunate the US hasn't taken a stronger stance on increasing consumer protections; a great step would be to match Europe's standard 2 year warranty.  Being satisfied with expensive products breaking and being replaced every 1.5 years is not good for consumers, the environment, or OEMs (in the long-term).

I will go for an Apple Watch when the new one comes out next month not because I need the features (in fact I will greatly miss the fitbit app), but because I know from personal experience that I will not have to replace it outright in 18 months if there is a glitch such as this.

Same issue here. It's been happening for about 2 weeks now. It's constantly scrolling through the menu quickly and vibrates. Has anyone found a solution other then draining the battery, recharging and the restarting the device?

There wasn’t a repair for mine but luckily it was still under the warranty.
