Charge 2 - no exercise showing on app

My app has stopped recognising any activity. Last weekend everything was working fine then 2 days later my tracker is showing calories burnt after a class but on syncing to the app…no exercise registers.  I have done all the recommended stuff…opening/closing/deleting apps and tracker and still nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas/advice please?

I see the people at Fitbit haven't fixed the issue. Give them time. It might be awhile before this issue is resolved.

I fear you might be right but it really shouldn’t take more than a day or two. As a former software developer myself (and I still dabble), all they need to do is a delta between their current code and the last known good (4.23 or 4.24). Or even quicker by rolling back, or giving us the ability to roll back. There is really no excuse for this ineptitude.

I expect this is actually now a strategic move performed by other retailers where they effectively “brick” your device (Charge 2 in this case) to get us to buy a new device. We’ll be bottom of the pile, guys and gals, for a fix, if at all.

This is actually what I have suspected is going on.  I like the simplicity of the Charge 2 and don’t want another device.  If I did, I’d have bought an Apple Watch when it first came out.  Especially as an iPhone user….and a user since the 2nd generation iPhone was released back in 2008  🤣🤣🤣

My app for my Charge 2 has not been working for a couple weeks now.  Like many others have reported, It captures data like the steps, HR, sleep, calories and miles data but will only detect portions of my outdoor walks.  Gym exercise where I press the side button to start and stop tracking various activities like Strength Training or Elliptical or Treadmill, are no longer captured on the app.  My interactions with Fitbit support have found them to be almost dismissive.  A few things I have picked up in researching this issue:  Fitbit sales have been discontinued in many countries as the parent company intends to move away from Fitbit trackers. It was assumed that sales in all countries would follow suit at some point.  Fitbit support will not discuss anything with you if you still have your Fitbit account tied to a non gmail address which I still have.  I do not want to join the google universe any more than I already have so I was thinking maybe making up a new Fitbit specific gmail address for use with my Fitbit only.  When I spoke to Fitbit Support they said nothing about knowing about this issue or that they are working on it.  I suggested they look at this thread and they refused to speak to me due to my email address which my Fitbit account has been tied to for nine years. And to think I was recently thinking about upgrading my Charge 2 which otherwise still works fine for me.

I started connecting with Google when I got the email about it.

Has anyone contacted the support team about this error yet and asked what they are doing about it?

Do you have 100% functionality by connecting with a Gmail and connecting to Google?

Well, it looks like 4.26 which my phone downloaded overnight has given us a patch. It is now recording my exercise…but only minimal stats.

It records your exercise, av heart rate and heart rate profile over time. The heart rate zones are incorrect (it said all of my exercise was Light when the profile shows more than Vigorous). It is not showing the gps data or your speed per km though.

PS I still don’t use a gmail account.

My app hasn't been updated, still on 25.2
Still not logging my exercise.
I manually start my workout: Treadmill, Weights, Workout.
Interestingly, today as I exited the gym, I had a fitbit notification
congratulating me for my 18 min elliptical workout (auto detected seeing
how I manually started a treadmill) - but when I checked the app on my
phone there were NO workout logged. curious how it notified me but didn't
log? Anyway

Its not just the Charge 2. Versa 2 and 4's and One's. are affected. Its across the board. They broke something on the back-end when they updated to V4.24 at the end of August. They offered a fix with V4.25, but this is still broken.  My V4.25 app captures and displays data as long as I have bluetooth running. This drains my trackers battery very quickly (about a day). If I turn bluetooth off, the data no longer shows and appears to bel lost.. The interesting bit is that I receive a weekly summary report which has all the 'missing' data!

I am annoyed by the same cookie cutter solutions being offered by Google via email and on the review pages. It looks like its AI generated. By the way - the solutions don't work.

Thanks for the info!

Having the same issue all this week. Not recorded daily walking and activity. Is it time to switch to an Apple Watch? 🫤

Would it do any good to uninstall the app then reinstall it? Or would that screw up the data further? Ty

I think some people tried that once and it didn't work.

It makes no difference. Wait for the 4.26 update

Unfortunately, the update to version 4.26 under iOS has not brought any improvement in the recording of training activities. I think I've gone through the entire process: completely deleted Fitbit Charge 2 from the account and Bluetooth settings, uninstalled the app, restarted the phone, reinstalled the app, re-connected and set up the tracker. I tested the whole thing on both iOS and Android. I also transferred the Fitbit-account to Google and opened a support case. They are working on a solution, apologizing for the inconvenience and thanking me for my patience. The text generator has probably been closely linked to the positive thinking module. 🙂

Funnily enough, I've been busy thinking about switching to a new fitness tracker for the last few weeks. I like my iPhone, but I don't feel like completely entering the golden Apple cage and switching to an Apple watch. And the fact, that independent providers often end up with the tech giants through acquisitions cannot be reliably ruled out. But now I'll just wait and see whether the problem can be successfully resolved and then I'll continue to use my old treasure until it falls off my wrist.

Can you still remember times when it was a pleasure to be interested in a new product and the second thought didn't immediately go towards obsolescence of some kind?

Yeah, I've been thinking about switching trackers, and if this isn't fixed
soon that will be a definite. But I'm not an iPhone user, and I'm not going
that direction, lol. I'll have to look at others

I get workouts that are auto-detected (Walk, mostly) recorded in the app, but nothing that I start and stop to log as a workout. I didn’t notice it at first, since I was on vacation for a week and only had stairs to climb for workouts (which were autodetected). But when I got back and tried to start a Spinning workout, it started, and ran normally, but when I stopped it it never reported the summary stats (average/peak heart rate, calorie burn, etc). It just returned to the Spinning home screen, and the workout was never logged in the app. The first time I thought maybe I’d accidentally rebooted the tracker when I ended the workout, but it’s done it every day this week.

I figured this was a fault in the tracker because of the behavior when I ended the workout, but if it’s happening to this many people, it almost has to be a bug in the app. Which scans since I’ve noticed other weird behavior in the app recently. Seems they fix one thing and break two in the process.
