Charge 2 - no exercise showing on app

My app has stopped recognising any activity. Last weekend everything was working fine then 2 days later my tracker is showing calories burnt after a class but on syncing to the app…no exercise registers.  I have done all the recommended stuff…opening/closing/deleting apps and tracker and still nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas/advice please?

I ended up giving up on the charge 2 ever syncing workouts again, plus my screen was cracked and faded so I bought a charge 6 and it works fine. I just don't understand why "they" don't simply say, sorry folks, we are no longer doing any fixes on the charge 2 and let it die. Their BS around try this, try that, we are aware blah blah blah is worse than the truth.

I don't know why they don't say that the Charge 2 no longer works.

Does your Charge 6 sync its exercise with the app @Redmaple66?

Yes, works perfectly

Like how the Charge 2 should've been synching with the app @Redmaple66. I still have to log in the workout information from the Charge 2 into the Fitbit app.

The Fitbit app is pretty nice.  Even if manually doing it.  Though I still wish they kept the Fitbit website.  I enjoyed it much more than the phone app.

There is still no automatic logging from the exercises on the activity band.

I don't know why they got rid of the Fitbit website anyway.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays.  Unfortunately, I don't think Santa is bringing a fix for this problem.

Do any of you have any comment on this @JuanFitbit and @MarioSFitbit?

If the Fitbit products were going to be discontinued, they would have made it official announcement about it.

@Rtkat3   The Charge 2 was released in 2016 and discontinued when Fitbit released the Charge 3 in 2018.  It is an unsupported legacy device.  I don't expect users will ever see a fix for this.

Do you have any comment on what @LZeeW has mentioned @JuanFitbit and @MarioSFitbit?

Hi everybody!

@LZeeW Thank you for your comments and input.

To everybody else:

It's true that the Charge 2 is considered as a legacy device, still, we continue providing support to it. We haven't gotten any information stating that the Charge 2 is not supported anymore, meaning, that the features offered by the Charge 2 should be working.

Our team is aware of this issue and is still investigating why in these cases in particular the Charge 2/Fitbit app is not working as it should.

As mentioned before, we will update the thread as soon as we receive further information.

We appreciate all your comments, information, and feedback, so that we can update our team with new/other symptoms that you might find.

This issue has been present since August 2023. I can't imagine that it would take the tech department that long to investigate and fix the issue, they are brighter than that. I moved on to a different device months ago, but check in with my Fitbit Charge 2 every so often and the problem persists. I don't understand why Google Fitbit doesn't just admit that they aren't supporting the device. It seems silly at this point.

I first noticed the problem in July 24.  Since then I have had to awkwardly take a photo of my Fitbit watch to log my exercise activity into another platform's app so I can track all my exercise.  Meanwhile Fitbit doe snot accurately measure my outdoor activity whether it is tracked automatically with GPS or if I select the activity on the watch.  If I walk 2 miles it may record "Sport" for 14 minutes and 2.56 miles.  Obviously way off.  But I could live with that due to using another device for tracking outdoor activity.I was using my Fitbit for daily steps, calories, sleep and for recording on demand all other exercise like weight lifting and elliptical and treadmill or stationary bike at the gym. This is where it failed me technically. Where Fitbit lost me completely is with their dismissive responses and replies about we'r working on it."  Right.  Google knows who I had dinner with last night.  You can't convince me they can't fix this one little issue.  In the final weeks of being able to use my Fitbit account I am collecting my data then plan to delete.  I suspect they will drop all Fitbits once all users have committed to Gmail accounts.  I am using two different platforms now in addition to Fitbit. One is a web based smartphone fitness platform for logging activity and another is a fitness watch made by another company. I will miss my Fitbit and especially the sleep tracking but I would rather have the imperfections of other devices with companies that are candid with me and respect me as a customer. And like I said my Fitbit is not perfect.  Sleep is its best feature, tracking activity is essentially broken.

OK. But they have not said this to us at any time. I've been engaged with this forum for about 7 years. On the contrary, they have been silent on the issue or they have made unofficial response that basically say, "we hear ya, we're working on it, more to follow.... so what is the issue again? Remind me? Oh yeah, I'll check on that..... the tech team are working on it hard so expect something in the coming weeks, .... hello what is the problem can you describe to me the issue you are having? Or ok let me check.... silence......"

So that has strung us all along. If Google Fitbit had sent out a message to all of us that said, "UPDATE:  ALL Charge 2 Users, Fitbit has decided to stop providing full tech support to the Charge 2 device in favor of focusing its tech support on Charge 3 and later devices.  Charge 2 devices will still work however they may not work fully as designed or as they once did as application updates may no longer apply to these older legacy devices.  From time to time, as a tech company we must accept that some of our older yet loved, successful devices are no longer current and so we must balance user preferences with moving our technology forward. We appreciate your patience."

I'm not even sure Juan at Fitbit is a real person.  No offense to him if he is. It is just what it looks like given the responses over time.

Samsung, Garmin, and other makers of fitness trackers are though.  Google is losing some customers over this. Although admittedly we are a small drop in the bucket.
