Suddenly, my Charge 2 is not recording weekly exercise. (I'm referring to exercise recoded simply by wearing the wristband, not by going to "track exercise.") Up until today, my Fitbit recorded walks and use of elliptical machines just fine, but today I did a walk and then about 35 minutes on an elliptical and neither were recorded. Today's exercises were very similar to previous exercises that recorded properly. I've set my weekly exercise to begin on Mondays, and this is a Monday. Last night, I charged the Fitbit and it is now fully charged. Also, I restarted the tracker but that didn't make a difference. My Fitbit is synced to an iPhone 6S and both the Fitbit and iPhone have had all updates installed. Are others experiencing the same problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi @PubliusJunior and welcome to the Community!
I would recommend editing your SmartTrack settings if you haven't already. What this does is make the exercise auto-detection a little bit more personal and allows you to set time thresholds based on your exercises.
For instance, I don't won a bike so I've turned biking off and I run a lot, so I up-ed the running time threshold to 25 minutes on my account.
Hope this gets you back on track.

Hi Derrick, Thanks very much for your prompt reply and information about editing SmartTrack settings. I did some edits, eliminating the categories of exercises that aren't applicable, then went for another walk. It didn't make a difference, as auto-detection still didn't record the walk. However, as of this morning, auto detection is working again. I'm not sure what triggered it to work, but thought you and others might be interested in the additional steps I took the previous evening. On the Fitbit: I signed out of my account, then "replaced" FitBit (as if I had a new one). On the iPhone 6S: I did a reset; then turned off bluetooth and turned it back on. I'm not sure which, if any, of these steps may have made a difference, but auto-detect is now working. Thanks again for your help and the good information about editing SmartTrack, which I will continue to use.

Thanks for the update @PubliusJunior, and thanks for taking the time to share the extra steps you took to find a solution for this, it's great to know the auto detection is working for you again.
Keep us posted if you continue to experience any trouble with this.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem I have tried all of the above and it's still not automatically tracking my exercise, I'm getting increasingly frustrated especially as I've only had it for 5 weeks? Does anyone else have any suggestions? Or know if there is a helpline etc? I don't want to have to manually track every time

@Juliebp28 you could look in the top corner of this page, click on your photo then contact fitbit. This link is also in the app under help.
Have you tried a restart of your tracker, checked your auto detect of exercise settings, disabled the ones you dont do, or setup the tracker as a replacement device? This is about the best you can do without contact.fitbit.com

I have been having the same problem, as well as randomly logging elliptical exercises. This happens at times that I know I was not active.

@Mmoyer Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community!
Let me help with your activity recordings. Your device detects activities based on the motion on your arm. The automatic detection is a feature called SmartTrack. For example when using the elliptical machine make sure you have the moving bars so your device detects the motion and record the activity itself, once an Elliptical activity is saved on your account it should show on the Recent Exercise area. If your heart rate is high but there isn't much motion (yoga, weight lifting, etc.) then these activities will be difficult to be detected by your device. Still you can manually log your activity so you have a record on your account or use the activity mode on the device itself.

Hello @Mmoyer only you know what you whe doing during the logging of the elliptical.
Now if elliptical is an exercise that you mostly do not do, the beauty thing to do is disable this exercise plus any other exercise that toy do not normally do.
To disable, tap on the exercise tile, tap the settings Cog, no check the list for exercises that you want to bre auto detected.

Im assuming that you agree depending on Fitbit to figure out what exercise you are doing.
Why not simply set your watch on elliptical recording? Your problem would be solved.
How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?
