Hello everyone just wondering if anyone has had issues with the screen, i woke up and saw mine has a big deep scratch and totally bizarre unknown how! Ive been careful and vigilant of it and most certain hasnt hit or touched anything as its on my wrist and i would have felt it. Ive been told its a weak screen but this is dissapointing only had it 4 weeks. Totally puts me of it now

You SHOULD get at least 2 years out of your replacement so why on earth would you upgrade this summer? Curious....real or memorex?

@WalkingFiend No I’m not a bot lol!

I like the look of the versa and my birthday is in the summer so seems like an ideal time to get one, I won’t spend £170+ on a smart watch for myself for no reason so having one as a birthday present means I can!

As you can see from this article they are aware of the issue and have been for a while. Yet they deny the product is faulty.

Not sure it’s legal to copy the article here but to summarize: what appears to be a consumer advocate reviewed the paper trail and said while they (Fitbit) admitted they knew of the problem they were within warranty to deny that person replacement as the customer — “Melissa’s”— issue occurred at 13 months — past the US warranty. However the advocate said they believed a higher duty of care was owed due to the admitted known issue and that this item should last longer than 13 months, recommended contacting mgmt, stated Melissa did and received a replacement. (Someone had previously posted the one line from the article with “Melissa” in it.)

And what is Interesting to note on this board is that some ppl have no problems at all getting a correct, under warranty, response and others do not. The latest being the person with the 2018 purchase that is clearly under the time for warranty and one just a few weeks old. And those out of warranty — well, you’ve seen the posts.

I always keep in mind we only hear one side of the story on here, but.......sure have been a lot of folks with similar reports.....

Seems it’s bedn deleted anyway so I guess you are correct. However I did add the link in the post above.

Oh well at least you outlined the article. Thanks.

I also had this problem at the end of my warranty. had not dropped or knocked it. Contacted fitbit who requested some more details including photo of damage. Expecting free replacement today.

Prompt responses from fitbit to my email. Could not have been more helpful. Excellent customer service.

Glad to hear it but that is all down to the people who have complained.
This is a fault in the manufacturing and it should not matter if it’s in
warranty or not as it’s a defect and needs to be rectified.

Totally agree. Inherent fault - no doubt.

I am on my second charge 2. Both got a rectangular shape crack within 6 months. It is a design flaw. The curved face does not hold up. Kills the look. I won’t replace it again for this one reason.

I am on my second Charge 2. The first cracked after 13 months, just after the warranty period but they were nice enough to replace it. My 2nd one has cracked worse with 2 deep cracks running up both sides. Again this was 13 months later so just after the warranty. Apparently though the warranty on replacements is only 30 days. So they have offered me 25% off. I am not too confident in buying another Fitbit though.

Also, hearing that there is a problem with them makes me think they should be coming up with replacement screens. However, I guess they just want you to keep buying new ones. At a minimum of $199.95 for the Charge 3 - I would want it to last longer than 13 months. It's a joke!

At the moment I have clear packing tape on it. You can't even tell there is anything on it. I tried screen protectors but they just came off. So I guess I'll stick with this for a while, or look at a Garmin.

My Fitbit also randomly cracked and the wrist band is popping up. Very poor quality workmanship.

My second one (the replacement) did the same. Won’t get another.

Sad. I got an Apple Watch instead.

Me as well and I like it much better. I didn’t want to reward Fitbit with more business after seeing how they treated customers with this device.

@Ruscanuck Did you know you are sending out your phone number with these posts area code 780 I believe — I didn’t copy it here so as not to repost it. It’s in your iPhone signature line.

While my Charge2 did crack after the 1 year US warranty it has remained functional thus far. Not sure I’ll bother to buy another device of any flavor.
