Hello everyone just wondering if anyone has had issues with the screen, i woke up and saw mine has a big deep scratch and totally bizarre unknown how! Ive been careful and vigilant of it and most certain hasnt hit or touched anything as its on my wrist and i would have felt it. Ive been told its a weak screen but this is dissapointing only had it 4 weeks. Totally puts me of it now

Mine cracked in direct sunlight while pushing a stroller around sea world in Florida. Never bumped it and hadn’t put on sunscreen yet. Checked the time walked to a show and checked the time again and it was cracked. Out of warranty 20% discount which was more than the sales the big box stores had at the time. Replaced it with a much better watch.

It could be the sun/heat. But either way ridiculous for them to crack so easily. I went through 2  - 1st was under warranty and the 2nd out of warranty. Since FitBit knows they’re defective but not recalling or offering replacements I switched to an Apple Watch. I love it but it did take some getting used to. I still haven’t found a great way to track sleep like my FitBit did. I refused to put any more money into a company that didn’t stand behind it’s products.

Best of luck!

2 Fitbit’s in one year is enough for me.

think I’ll get an apple.

@Deesch — I doubt it’s the sunscreen. Many of us have reported heat being a cause — either sunlight or suspected from leaving on charger to long. Others reported appeared to be from pressure changes from flying. Surely the fact you tap it all the time may have some relevance. Some have gone to bed with it ok and woke up with it cracked and swear nothing they could have hit in their sleep. I know two ppl who put screen protector on just to keep moisture out. Mine cracked but still working. I just keep it dry.

I have a Fitbit 2 Charge. Purchased 5/18. Took plane flight 3/19. Fitbit face cracked. Contacted Fitbit and since under warranty got a new face. Just traveled to Africa and cracked again. Contacted Fitbit and they say the replacement warranty ended 5/19. So no replacement.VERY DISSATISFIED!!! With this answer. Evidently flaw in their product as I have read many reports of cracked screens after plane trip. I believe Fitbit is not forthcoming with info on their product.  ANGRY CUSTOMER !!

@PaisleySully. You got a new face to your Charge2? They told us it was not replaceable. Or did they replace entire device? Yes, you’ve joined quite a group. Mine cracked after 1 year warranty was up. Despite this it continues to function. Some put screen protectors over theirs. I just keep mine dry. Good luck!

My first one cracked on plane flight. The face unit was replaced as warranty had 2 more months. The new one ( which was 6 months old ) cracked on my resent flight to Africa. The company said warranty was done in May and no replacement!! After reading the site you were on , clearly the product has design flaws. Many have cracked. To bad we all can’t have more of an affect on their less than reputable company. Thanks for reply. I’m an angry customer.

Hi since I started this link I have heard from so many people around the world who have this problem.  I am lucky that my replacement is still whole but I really do think that Fitbit should recognise this issue of cracking screens and do something about it.  😯

Mine cracked top to bottom, and it looks like another crack is starting.  I don’t recall hitting it or dropping it.  At least mine is 22 months old so not new......

Hi, My wife has had the same. We were on holiday, somewhere hot, and yes, the thing cracked DEFINITELY NO IMPACTS. I smah things up, but she does not. THe thermal expansion must have done it. Mechanically, they are appauling.

THis should not be the best answer, as we have had one go through thermal expansion. We were on holiday in Tenerife and definietly not an impact.

Thanks for reply. I think altitude density is an issue. Temps where I was in Africa as about same as my home temp. I found somewhere that company states altitude of 30000 ft , which most long haul flights are at 40000 ft. I am going to contact company again with all this info from site and see what they have to say. Worth a try. 😁

Slept while wearing the Charge 2, rarely do this. It cracked top-to-bottom as it reclined gently on the mattress. I've had it for....oh....11 months, and so I'm assuming that Fitbit will either tell me that I broke it or that I'm out of warranty. Who makes a better product? Garmin? I'd give up the HR monitor for a better product.

I'm using a Garmin vivoactive 3.  Love it.   Heart rate monitor is great.

Their app blows in comparison to Fitbit but otherwise great.

Much  much better for athletes

I discovered a few days ago that my Charge 2 has a huge crack from top to bottom.  Didn't do anything to cause it.  Mine is a few years old and I a replacement from my daughter.  I just don't know how to switch from one to the other.  Do I have to delete the whole app and then start again?  Does anyone have an answer for me or some instructions?  Thanks
