Charge 3 blank screen

My Charge 3 just has a black/blank screen and won't do anything at all.  I placed it on the charger thinking it was dead.  It gave it's little vibrate signifying the charger was placed properly, and a smiley face appeared as though I rebooted.  The smiley face stays on for about 8-10 seconds and then just goes back to black screen and will do nothing else.  I tried a reboot, but nothing happened.  I then removed it from the charger and re-attempted a couple of more times with the same results.  I also have tried connected the charging cable both through a usb charger and my computer just to see if plugging it into the computer would jumpstart it somehow.  The same results no matter where I try.  I have left it on the charger for quite awhile now, and still just a black screen.  Did it just completely fail on me?  What else can I try?  I have searched here, and I don't seem to find any answers.  Thanks!

There is only one more thing to try before you contact Support (link in my signature) - a long restart

CHARGE 3 LONG RESTART
Plug the device into the charging cable. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds. Remove your finger from button. Note: Device won't have a smiley face icon and should be off with a black screen. Remove the device from the charging cable. Plug the device into the charging cable again. The smiley face icon appears on the screen.

I also tried as well and it still won't work.

I rebooted it since it didn't sync with my phone. Then it went all black, I still get vibration but no screen.

I did all the things you said with the charger and then I see a smiley face, but when it goes away it still won't do anything.

I don't know what to do now

My fitbit 3 just went to a black screen.  I purchased less then 6 months ago.

I have researched what to do and nothing seems to working.

Steps I have completed:

Plugged directly into USB port on computer held button down to reset.

Disconnected then reconnect held power button down until I see a line then a smiley face.

Removed and back to blank screen.

Any other ideas?

Hi, first of all I would plug into a main supply not computer port.
change the onscreen clock face using the fit bit setup pathway on your pad or computer.
Then plug into charger and try pressing and holding as you have.
Hope this works.

Mine is doing the same thing. I reboot using the 15 second technique described. The smiley face comes on and then the screen goes black the moment I disconnect it from the charger. Still vibrates but screen is black.

Please help!

Mine has been like this for two weeks now. It has done it before and the reset worked. This time, it is just black screen, smiley cones up for a bit, then back to black. Not even letting me do the reset. This is my second charge 3 in less than two years.

Hi,

my fit bit 3 has been fine since I did the routine of changing the clock face, plugging in and holding the start button for 15 seconds disconnecting and putting it back on charge mode ( via mains) and holding start button again for second time. This worked for me but there is obviously a problem with some f the Fitbit 3 out there as this is a very common fault. I hope you get it sorted.

Have you tried changing the clock face on your iPad or computer then try restarting it or Unplug it then plug it back in and try again.

Hi there,

I am also having the same issue. A few days ago I had this happen and then reset and got the smiley face and it worked fine. Then this morning it went blank again and I have tried all the techniques listed for rebooting but am still not able to get the screen to work.

Can you please advise as to next steps? Thank you!

I’ve gone through all the steps multiple times and my screen remains black. No smiley face. No nothin’.  It vibrates when I push the button and it syncs with my phone—just no display.

I have been having the same issues for a couple of months now. I've tried the 15 sec restart plugged into a laptop and a direct power source. Neither work. I've held the button down, unplugged, replugged, and repeated and nothing. There is nothing on the screen. No smiley face, or battery sign, or anything. My phone won't sync with it (the fitbit app is updated), so I can't even change the clock face. It's less than a year old. For a product that costs more than $100 I expect more. How do I fix this? Nothing suggested on any of the related pages works.

am getting the exact same thing. fitbit went a bit goofy by vibrating and bouncing screens with not response. So I rebooted. It started back up and worked for about an hour. then went goofy again. this time I did a hard reboot and did the 15 seconds,. now it just gives me a smiley face and goes black after a little bit., won't sync. the battery life is good. I am pretty sure it is dead or dying. I am going to open a ticket and ask for a replace. I love this thing when it works!!

Did anyone solve this issue, I’m about to give up and purchase something else. I’ve done all the rebooting both short and long, changed clock face several times and still blank screen, syncs ok and works but no point having it on my wrist if I can’t even look at the time.
