I am unable to see my screen.  I have reset the fitbit and barely saw the smiley face. After several attempts I give up.  Please help me.

Hi there @Mink2005, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 3's screen went blank, I understand where your concern is coming from. Thanks for already trying to fix your tracker prior to posting here. I'll be glad to continue to help you.

In order for me to better assist you with this, please confirm that you've followed the steps below:

  1. Check in the Fitbit app if your Charge 3 is still syncing, if so, try changing the clock face to a different one by following these steps: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?. The steps are done through the Fitbit app, do not worry if you cannot see anything on the screen for this process.
  2. Please confirm if you've restarted your device by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

I'm looking forward to your response, keep me posted.

Hi, my fitbit charge 3 now has a blank screen. I've tried to restart it, that hasn't worked. I've also changed the clock face, that also hasn't worked. The screen is totally blank. No smiley face when resetting just black. I've had this less than a year. Any ideas on how to get screen to work?

Hi, similar problem, all above steps do not work but i'll break it down. Cannot reset (8 or 15 seconds or longer), no smiley face, didn't restart, will not show anything on screen, updated phone software update + fitbit update, changed clockface on phone app but still completely black screen that vibrates. Please don't reply with the standard "make sure you do reset as described here or change the clockface". Nothing works and I can fix any of my household technology, meaning I believe this is a bug with the tech, recieved as a christmas present 2 years ago. Still counts steps but does not function as a watch or any display at all.

Hi

I tried everything that was recommended to fix black screen on my Charge 3 but I didn't work. I called costumer support and they assisted me doing the same steps they mentioned in the forum. I didn't work either. They send me an email later apologizing for not being able to fix my problem and to let me know that my tracker was out of warranty already, since it was almost 2 years that I got it. So, they offered me a coupon 35% discount to use it to buy another device. Do you think I am going to do it? No. I am really disappointed with the company. It seems that they just use costumers to make money and offer a warranty to cover the expectancy functionality of the device which I strongly believe, they know anticipately that devices will not be working more than 2 years. I feel sorry for the still costumers that believe in this company.

I've been through this drill several times and still came up with a blank screen. I finally figured out that if I went into a dark room or closet I could dimly make out the screen. I swiped to get to the last menu Settings, tapped Brightness and set to Auto. Voila!

OK, folks. I have the same problem.  I can't see anything on my screen.  I have tried resetting it and can't get the smiley face (or can't see it).  It does vibrate occasionally and I can sync it.  I can't change settings I can't see!  Help!

I have the same problem. Blank screen but still recording activity. No amount of resetting, changes of clock face works. When the screen started fading I was able to find the brightness setting and increase it a little, but still wasn’t as it had been originally. Even this has now faded to nothing. It can’t be a coincidence so many people have this issue. LED fault?? It was a gift 2 years ago. Is this a classic case of built-in obsolescence? It stops working so you are forced to buy a newer model?  Not impressed!

Hi, my Charge 3 kept doing that repeatedly. I would get a magnifying glass and flashlight to try to see the figures on the screen. "Sometimes" I was fast enough to see the thing had switched to "sleep" mode. Then I could switch it back to "wake up." But it seemed to go dim every time after a charge. Then most recently it went completely blank. No amount of thumping or restarting made it light up. However, it was still vibrating, and the green light flashed. I called support. She had me reset the clock face on the app on the computer; that made no difference. She had me do a "long" restart -- which was the same as the restarts I had been doing, but I held the button for 15 seconds. Still no luck. She said I needed to get a new Charge; this one was nonfunctioning.

Soooo I decided to poke a pin into the tiny hole on the back of the Fitbit. I had nothing to lose, right? Ironically, it vibrated and lit up! Now it will light up when I hit the side button, but not when I thump on it. Not sure how much longer that will work; I haven't put it back on a charge yet. But I ordered a replacement Charge 3 on eBay. I don't want all the gizmos of the Charge 5, and I want to be able to count stairs -- a feature not available on the new models. I just need a simple tracker for steps and stairs, so I'll keep trying to find and use old Charge 3's. This one lasted almost 3 years.
