Charge 3 display corrupted

My Charge 3, which is about 6 weeks old has developed a dead horizontal line about 1/5 of the way down the screen. It's like a dead pixel, but extends right across the screen and always remains black. It's not too much of a problem; info is still easy to read, but it's clearly a fault and may get worse. I intend to return it for an exchange, but am posting to let other users know about this issue.

I have seen that happen with other replacements. I don't know what the
company will do with a second one. It also will depend on it you have any
warranty left. Good luck. I left the Charge line and went to inspire. So
far so good.

Yes. I spoke with a customer service rep. I tried everything she suggested. When it was obvious that this Fitbit is corrupted and she offered me a discount to throw good money after bad, I knew I was done with Fitbit.

If my unit goes bad, I'll be done too. I've only had this one 3 months. My
experience was the offer of a discount to buy up. Not willing to spend more
if it will go bad after a year. I'm not that well off. . Sorry it didn't
work out, but it seems to be very common with the Charge 3.

I’m on my 2nd replacement (so 3rd of this model). If this one goes, unless they replace it again, I’ll be done with them. No idea why they continue to issue duff refurbished models, and in the process absolutely ruin their credibility and reputation. Surely more cost effective to actually fix the problem. Do you even care Fitbit?? Would be actually good to hear a response from them?

You are more patient than I am. I would have been done when the second one
went bad.

Unfortunately, their scheme is likely to get people to keep upgrading when a model fails. I had the Fitbit Alta, which failed, and they gave me the option of replace or use a 50% off discount to buy another model. I went with the Charge 3 because I didn't want to spend over $100 to replace something that broke due to product malfunctions. Five months later, the Charge 3 has a display malfunction, rendering it unusable as a watch band monitor, and they gave me the same option. Replace or upgrade with a discount.

Considering how many people are falling for the replacement deal (because the option is to count this as a loss and spend more money elsewhere) over and over again, it's a lucrative practice to offer discounts if it means people will keep spending money on upgraded versions in the hopes that it will pan out in their favor. If Fitbit never has to give cash refunds to customers because their products are faulty, the only loss they have is on profit margin of units that they know will also likely break in a relatively short span of time. The fact that these community forums are full of customers complaining about their Fitbits malfunctioning, and many of them are not solved with fixing settings or restarting the units, the quality scam has got to be a real thing.

I'm cutting my losses at the $79 I spent on the discounted Charge 3 replacement offer. What do they say? "It's expensive to be poor when you have to keep spending money to replace poorly made goods." Fitbit can't rip me off if I stop shopping with them.

These things are junk and Fitbit doesn’t care. That’s their right. It’s our right to spread the word.

I have received replacement and like yourself, I’m also having worse problems than before. I’m really hacked off with the service now and have worded my email to them accordingly! Here’s hoping that something positive Ishtar come out of it but fingers crossed 🤞

Just a note that your phone's response will vary widely depending on where
you have it during exercise. It has to be set up the same as a fitbit or
other device to be close to comparable.

On another note, as you figured obviously, the Charge 3 is not a quality
device and is not supported. So many display issues - and they aren't
software!!

I suggest dropping fitbit and promoting anyone else's product. It is the
only way they will get it.

Over one week ago my Charge 3 battery ran down. The display started to look weird then the battery died completely. Upon recharge the display will not work.

I've tried to restart numerous times since. Still no display though it's still linked to my phone. I'm waiting for the battery to die again and am hoping that upon a recharge my display will come back. If not I think I'm done with Fitbit.

Love what the Charge 3 does but having a watch become basically useless after less than a year isn't acceptable. This isn't the first time the display has quit on my watch but I was able to recover it before. I'll try either a Garmin or something cheap next.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have had similar experiences. Run far away
from Charge because the company solution is no better. No wonder the
company is in trouble.

Lucky you!! I was offered 30% off another one. (Which I declined based on the number of units with issues). Hopefully your replacement lasts a long time!

So, I let mine run down completely and tried plugging it in again. Still no display. Started a chat with Support. Within ten minutes I received a credit for a new Charge 3. Mine was still under warranty. I can't complain about that experience. No hassles.

Glad to hear that. You'd hope they would get it right eventually.

Glad you were compensated. My Charge 3 was just out of warranty by a month. As others have stated for the price you’d expect 4-5 years at least. 😉

Best regards,

Ted
