Charge 3 does NOT sync/bluetooth

Disgusted. Charge 3 no longer syncs with iPhone bluetooth; I’ve tried all the suggested “solutions” none worked. Spoke to Fitbit - they know about the issue and asked me to be patient until a fix is developed. P.S. Nice to know Fitbit spent time editing my comments here, yet can’t find us all a solution.

Hello Alejandra!
I am sorry but I have to ask you: do you really think I am stupid? Of course I have looked at the help article and followed the instructions provided there!!! I said so in my first message. I almost know the article by heart now! And when I followed the instruction to turn off and then on the Bluetooth, problems really took a turn to the worse. The Fitbit won't pair but only occasionally now. After the whole day today trying to pair, I succeeded, or so I thought. But no, it still won't sync. And YES, I have done all you want me to do. So many times! You should be ashamed of your product if you think it's OK that your customers should go through this every time we want to make use of your product. And furthermore, probably won't be successful at it.

Cannot get my new charge3 to stay connected to galaxy s10. Have tried all suggested remedies but no success. I think the problem started with a recent app update, sporadic connection shows settings are ok. Is it possible to revert to the old version? I'm tempted to return as not fit for purpose. Pun intended.

Following this thread. Has there been any luck for getting past the 4 digit screen timing out? Was with customer support for over and hour before it was chalked up to a sorry for your inconvenience

@MarreFitbit The improved results I reported last week after the 4/1 Fitbit app update are sporadic. Often when I launch the app, it hangs for a while, and does not connect or sync. If I leave the app open on my iPhone, eventually it will sync behind the scenes. This is not like it used to do, which was do a near-instantaneous sync. I am still waiting for it to return to this mode. I want to be able to see updates right away when I want to sync the device.

Thanks for reply. It takes some time for to s10 to successfully scan and produce a device "find" for the charge 3, at least 4/5 scan attempts. The phone then trys to connect, again, 4/5 times and then almost by chance, connects. Data transferred and all seems well, but pretty much immediately the connection is then lost and the whole process has to begin again. There could be a fault with the unfitbit or more likely the app which they are supposedly working on, either way, it's a nuisance. I checked out all the top devices for this and finally relied on techradar before purchasing, have always checked with them for all reviews . That really surprises me. I'll give it another couple of days but in view of the reports going back 2 or more months have lost confidence and will return to retailer.

Having the same issue with my Charge 3 yet it's not with an I phone. I'm trying to sync with a Galaxy 7 that has worked on an off... mostly off now. It's been 4 days since the last sync. I've tried all the suggested ideas and the problem keeps repeating! Very annoying and falls into the not so nice Christmas present category that requires too much attention. 😫

I've been able to sync my fitbit as well. Only problem is after a week or so it doesn't sync again so I have to manually go in and do it again, normally it takes several tries over several days to get it to sync again. Then the same thing in a couple days or a week. Personally not very impressed with my fitbit. This is my first, probably last one.

My charge 3 stopped syncing over a week ago. I am using a note 9 and have exhausted all of the workarounds that have been suggested. Just adding another unhappy customer to the list. I've had the charge 3 for about 1 month.

Most people are chalking it up to the software upgrade that we all installed and are hoping for a fix from Fitbit.

  • I've tried everything. Please add me to your ever growing list of Charge 3 not syncing with the app. It's been about a month. I no longer can check weather or texts on my Charge 3. My steps do not sync.

My Charge 3 stopped syncing with my phone. I tried everything people suggested on this message board. It made my discussion with a Fitbit customer representative easier. By the end of trying many things, the representative is sending me a new Fitbit. It was easy dealing with this wonderful Fitbit rep. I was disappointed after about 3 months it stopped syncing. But I am delighted Fitbit is replacing my Charge 3. Thanks to all who posted to help me figure out my problem and to the great customer representative who resolved the problem.

I being one of the many disgruntled victims of this latest Fitbit issue have tried all the fixes suggested to get a 3 month old Charge 3 I gave to my wife (Mine is currently a Blaze).  Charge 3 just stopped synching about 2 weeks ago.  I tried different PC's , fitbit dongles, 15 sec resets, blue tooth turn off to force a pairing ....etc. In all these variants the symptom did not change , The device would pair and the sych would start (progress bar would get to about 20% across) and then stall till it timed out saying it couldn't synch.

Today I finally  had success...

1st I tried to remove the device from the account and then re setup the device to the account... it did the initial pairing, pair code was entered but then hung about 20 secs later......grr.

The success came by additionally in the Charge 3 device settings/about menu also deleting all the user data (not just a reset), and then I could setup the device to the account.

Downside is that all the unsyched data was lost

My guess is that this may not fix every ones issue (I may just have been lucky with a coincident gamma ray burst when I did it ) and it probably won't work again for me.

I think I will not be recommending Fitbit in future... Garmin is likely to be my next choice , they seem to have their eye on the technical ball and real customer service.

Waiting in perpetuity, or so it would seem.

Bluetooth seems very unstable.  It seems like there is a problem in the Bluetooth sharing feature.

I hope when they find/fix this Fitbit does expect me to buy a new tracker.

Fitbit do you need me to come in and run your QA department?

Really...

@BPC22 I tried this. Didn't help. I am very happy for you though and thanks for the tip!  I hope it stays that way.

Willing to try most things now.  I am waiting for feedback from fitbit customer service.

I just got off the phone with customer service (Ingrid) and she "put in a ticket to engineer". She said I should receive an email within a couple of days. It finally showed up on my Bluetooth after removing it from my account and adding as a new device. But, it shows an ! with a circle around it on the Charge 3 face after I enter the 4 digit code. It's brand new so I can't get past the scrolling of "www.fitbit.com/setup" screen. I can't even use it for a watch 🙄
