Charge 3 not tracking heart rate and sleep

Stoped working at the beginning of the month. No heart ❤️ rate, no sleep 💤  tracking. This stinks cause I’ve only had my Charge 3 for 6 months. Now the battery :battery: is starting to act up. I charge it fully though by the end of the day I need to recharge again. It was a gift for my birthday so I don’t know if warranty still exists  🤦🏻‍:female_sign:

Hi there @EasterM, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this situation.

This happened to my 3 days ago just after the firmware update, but I found out that the update had apparently shut off the heart rate setting on my device. After having reset it to 'on', the heart rate monitoring came on again. As you know, sleep stages are based on your heart rate data. So, open the Settings app and find Heart Rate. Make sure Heart Rate is On.

If you are not receiving sleep stages, I recommend considering the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Keep in mind that you must see sleep stages in order to see your sleep score information. Please swipe left on the Sleep Score graph, here you can see information about your weekly sleep average and sleep duration. To get more detailed information, see: What's sleep score in the Fitbit app?

Note that we are aware of Sleep Score may take longer than usual to appear in the app. We’re currently working to resolve it and hope to have a fix soon. Be sure to keep your Fitbit device and app up-to-date to ensure you receive the quickest resolution.

I’ve been waiting for a bit for someone to tell me why my fitbit wasn’t tracking my sleep! On 12/7 I did an update and it suddenly stopped tracking my sleep - which I quickly figured out was because my heart rate wasn’t being monitored. It took until right now for this to be resolved!

THANK YOU FOR THE HEADS UP THAT THE UPDATE CHANGES THE SETTING TO “OFF”!

My Charge 3 has stopped tracking my sleep and heart rate, this happened last week. I have so far tried the following:

Rebooted the device.

Restarted the device with charging cable plugged in.

Changed wrist placement.

Checked heart rate is set to "on" on the device.

Turned this off - rebooted - turned back on.

Changed sensitivity setting to sensitive.

I noted on your article about tracking heart rate it mentioned the following steps in the app:

  1. Tap the Today tab

     and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image.
  3. Tap Heart Rate and make sure it's set to Auto.
  4. 4. Sync your device.

I cannot see any option to tap heart rate at this step? Is it missing for some reason?

I would of  attached some images of what I am seeing on the app but this forum wont allow me to, I am pretty disappointed with my fitbit, I upgraded it to get the HR functionality which doesn't work! If this cant be resolved Im afraid it will get returned and I will look buy a different brand.

Yes I tried that as well and no luck either. I’m so disappointed too since I’ve only had my Fitbit since May of last year, not even a year yet ☹️ Someone got me an upgrade for the holidays, it was suppose to get to me by the 3rd of this month and I’m still waiting, so another disappointment  🤦🏻‍:female_sign: I’ll see how it goes 🤷🏻‍:female_sign:

Hi All

I have found that if your charge 3 says sleep not tracked, then check that under account\sleep that there is no time sleep "goal set", no set "bedtime" and "wake up time", Also turn off "bedtime reminder"

The only thing that I have selected is "Recieve Sleep Insights". I was also having a problem where my tracker was saying sleep not tracked and made these changes. This morning my sleep was tracking again. If you do require a "bedtime reminder" or to set a "sleep goal" Configure these after your device tracks your sleep for at least 3 nights. Then set a "bedtime reminder first" then the following night a sleep goal. but then make sure you are already in bed and ready to sleep when your "bedtime reminder"

Prompts you so, I think not doing so is what get the Fitbit confused and ends up not tracking your sleep

at all,

Later....

Hi guys, my Fitbit hasn't tracked any sleep or HR for weeks now and the green light is not flashing. I've tried rebooting it and all the settings are set up as they should. Any ideas??
