Charge 3 not tracking sleep stages

My charge 3 is very intermittent when recording my sleep pattern. It mostly records a basic pattern it has only recorded a detailed pattern about 3 times since I got it 3 weeks ago. I’ve tried moving it’s  position but no luck. Am I doing something wrong?

So i should not select sleep now button but just automatically let charge 3 detect my sleep? That should solve the issue of it not giving me stages but only a pattern?

So just go to sleep without doing anything, the device records everything, its just that the app syncing  its not the best, so in the morning if you dont have the correct times, delete the sleep log, enter the real times and you will have sleep stages and everything, i returned mine because it was having the heart rates go crazy sometimes and i dont need a device with bugs

I've heard different things all around... Most say to just let it
auto-detect. When I do that, it never catches more than 2 hours no matter
what. I've just gotten into the habit of manually putting the time in, then
it shows the sleep stages.

I have explained before very simple, go to sleep without doing anything, in the morning delete the sleep log, and enter your hours manually, you will have all the sleep stages and the correct time, thats it simple

read what i said, it works 100 % , it worked for me, it's just the syncing between the app and the charge 3 that sucks and I have returned mine,

I have tried deleting and re-entering the time manually and its not giving me the sleep stages still.

So obviously this fix will not work for everyone.

I restarted my charge 3 by inserting in charger and holding the start button until i saw a smiley face. I tracked my sleep stage the next day. I will keep you updated to see if it keeps tracking.

This worked for me.  It's a pain but I'll do it until there is a fix to this firmware.  This is my 8th FitBit and it's not my first FitBit frustration.

Charge 3 is junk. I bought mine in January. According to the Charge 3, I sleep between 58 minutes to 2 hours a night. In reality, I sleep 6-8 hours a night. The sleep tracking feature is very important to me. Charge 2 tracked sleep stages perfectly. I have spent a ridiculous amount of hours on the phone with Fitbit. I have tried every snake oil “fix” Fitbit walked me through, but to no avail. I asked them repeatedly to replace the pebble as it is clearly a piece of junk. I was told, and yes, this was what Fitbit dared to state, “We’re not replacing your Fitbit because it doesn’t track your sleep. We don’t consider that an important feature.” After hours of “support” calls and frustrating lack of resolve, I lost it. Finally, the company is sending a replacement. Shame on Fitbit. After reading volumes of complaints I am stunned that Fitbit isn’t more concerned about public perception regarding the quality of their products. I bet we’ll see the Charge 3 quietly fade away. My next purchase will be a competitor’s product.

Why should you mark all these messages as fixed for charge 3 not tracking sleep or tracking with any accuracy as fixed.    Non of the people have had you fix the issue!

I am in the same situation.  1 month in and I sleep 2-4 hours?

Tried your only fixes not working.  Return this week I guess.  No fix=lock the conversation

Why would using “begin sleep now” prevent tracking of sleep stages?  I’ve found that by not using that function my Charge 3 does not accurately track when I go to bed and when I wake up up. And that is when I wear my Fitbit as recommended for a solid heart rate.  My average sleep time per night is in excess of five hours excluding restless periods.
