Welcome to the Community Forums @SunsetRunner!

On the Charge 3, swipe to the left until you see the "Settings".  Tap on "Settings" and "Brightness Settings", should be your first option.  Tap on "Brightness" to cycle through the options.

You only have three options for brightness: Dim, Auto, and Normal.  I keep mine on Normal, as I like a bright screen.

If your tracker brightness is still too dim after switching from the options, you can restart it by following the instructions provided in the help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Give this a go and let me know the outcome. Man Very Happy

Dear Fitbit, I tried following your advise but unfortunately I had already went through this. I only have 2 options in Brightness, Auto and Normal. Auto is very dim and Normal you can only read when in darkness.i also tried resetting to factory setting but this again made no difference. If you have any further ideas please let me know.
Many thanks

What did happen with this case? I've the same problem and don't know how to fix it. The brightness in NORMAL is so dim that can only be read with in darkness, but not in any lit place (and definitively not outside). Please advise... Thanks!!

I have the same problem.  Only have 2 settings, auto and normal. Set at normal it is not bright enough to read in a lighted room or outdoors. Set to auto, all you can barely see is the "Fitbit" at the bottom of the screen. And this is in a completely dark room. I have restarted several times and long restart, has not done anything.  Also does not vibrate anymore.

Thanks for getting in touch. I couldn't solve the problem, I think it is internal issue. I contacted Fitbit in UK and I think they would have replaced it, if I had bought it form a registered agent in UK. But as I bought it in Dubai they would not change it. It eventually 6 months became unusable. Its now lying in the cupboard!

Thank you to whoever posted the directions in settings. After 3 months of standing in the closet to read the info or logging into Fitbit your suggestion solved the problem.

Thanks again

I have the same problem.
But when I take off frome my wrist, sometimes Charge 3 can bright as I can read under the sun. Don't know why but it's dim even in Auto/Normal mode.

it's dim and hardly to see under normal condition; see nothing under sunlight/ outside

Is there a bright setting that can be installed? Normal is way too dim for outside use. I've restarted, hard reset, etc. This seems to be a new issue. Wasn't there a bright setting before?

Hi there,

My Charge 3 used to have a good brightness to the screen, but after the last firmware update, the brightness of the screen is way too dim, but since I don't get out much after recent global events, it was less of an issue until now. With summer approaching in my country, I recently went out into the sunlight and while outside found that I couldn't view anything on my Charge 3 anymore.

I've tried all the brightness settings and find that when I choose the Dim option, I can't see anything on the screen at all, and have to guess at what I'm pressing next. The Normal setting sets it to a dimness that I would expect to see with the Dim option, and the Auto option never goes brighter than the Normal option. I also restarted the Charge 3, but to no avail.

When I play around with some of these settings, at times, the screen does go bright again, as it used to be, but it takes less than a second to revert to the Normal setting, so I'm quite sure this isn't a device problem, but a programming problem on the device which came in after the last firmware update.

If it is in any way possible for me to go back to the older firmware version, please let me know. I'd rather go back to a previous firmware version on my Charge 3, so that I don't experience this issue anymore.

what if it is so dim that I can't see to get to the settings ? I thought there was a way to do setting from the app on my phone but I can't find it anywhere ... how do I change the brightness if I can't see it because it's to dim? 😞

Agree - mine has been horrible the last few weeks.   Only time it's easily read is at night in the dark.  Dim isn't readable at all and Normal & Auto are the same.

I do not believe this post.  Nobody has confirmed that setting to NORMAL has helped, in fact, most have said that there is no difference.

Your instructions to increase Brightness were so clear, I was able to select Normal even though my screen was so dim I couldn't read it. Thanks!
