Charge 3 screen has lines

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit Charge 3 screen has gone from black to grey with vertical stripes. Purchased December 2019but not opened and worn/set up until February 2020. I have tried restarting etc as recommended on the forum to no avail. I have also tried to update. To no avail. Am very disgruntled and will not buy Fitbit again. My original Charge 2 developed a cracked screen after a few months from new and degenerated to the point it could not be read. Please can someone help? I cannot connect to customer support. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have multiple lines of missing pixels.  I've tried restarting, tried the long restart and I've changed my clock face.  Sill I'm left with missing lines.  I don't have any other problems with my Charge 3 - it is getting hard to read😔

Hi @bollinger, it's great to see you around the forums. @Joanna710, welcome to the Community Forums.

@bollinger, thanks for sharing that your Charge 3 screen isn't working correctly, and for the steps tried prior to posting. I'm sorry that the screen isn't showing your data correctly and to work on this together, let me recommend to perform a long restart with the following steps:

  1. Plug your device back into the charging cable and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  2. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  3. The device turns off.
  4. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  5. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  6. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

@Joanna710, thanks for your efforts while troubleshooting your Charge 3. Nice way to go! Because the screen is still not working, I've contacted our Support team on your behalf so they can create a case and provide you with assistance. Just note that due to recent events affecting our operations there might be a delay in their reply, but they'll get in touch with you soon.

I'll be around, keep me posted with the outcome.

This happened with my old Charge 3, even after trying the long restart. But since it was over a year since I purchased it, they wouldn’t replace. Instead gave me a discount code for another Fitbit item. This time I bought the 2 year warranty.

Thank you. I have tried this but instead of a battery icon etc I get screen wake notification. It didn’t work, I still have the same problem.

I have tried this multiple times and the screen is still full of gray and white lines. I bought my Charge 3, replacing my smaller Alta on October 19th from Amazon. The gray lines have been an issue for the past three months. Frankly, I'm very disappointed that a product less than a year old is failing. It's absolutely useless in daylight as I can't see the screen due to lack of contrast.

I just don’t understand this it started slow for a couple days for me on my
charge 2 then did this. And now seeing it in the 3 mine was not old either.
I also know someone that has trouble with their versa doing this. The one
suggestion that i saw with the versa was all this and then let it die. When
it recharges reset it by holding The button down and then go into Fitbit
and change the clock look settings. One guy got his back that didn’t work
for me or anyone else I know

I have the same issue. It has been like this since the update.

Interesting can you tell me when the update started you noticed? Due to
medical and struggles I didn’t think of that but I do know that I update it
when it says or shortly after as my iPhone opening the app will tell me I
need to update to use it. It happens with multiple apps even social media
or news apps. The iPhone just started doing that this year.

I think it was about a month ago. I can barely read it inside and not at
all outside. Very annoying!

Same mine has been I think just over a month now maybe a month and a half
or so. I am starting to wonder if this is a bug that is doing it. It
started 2 days then went dead screen but it still pairs to my phone. So
many people having this problem tells me this is the Fitbit company and not
people’s breaking or something happening. This sucks. It sucks for anyone
but when you medically rely on it it makes it much harder and during a
pandemic when I can’t afford basics. Not to say I deserve anything more
than anyone else but still. Thank you for telling me I was curious with how
many people are experiencing this

Apparently a lot of people are experiencing issues like this since the
update. Mine worked fine before the update. I hope they get it fixed soon!!

Same because I updated the app today yet nothing happened. Fitbit needs to
help people. Hope yours is fixed, is yours the lines or did it fully go
dark like it’s not charged but is, that’s the way mines been

I tried to do this but it didn't fix the lines issue. A few months ago my watch started acting weird. Screen would freeze mid-run, or stop all together and then randomly start working fine. Then I noticed lines started appearing on the screen. Gradually more and more. And it's barely a year old. My other charge 2 I had over a year but the screen split. I don't see myself buying another fitbit if I cannot figure out the issue.

I am so sorry and I am really upset with Fitbit. I was told Apple Watch was
best for heart rate and sleep which I need most and best for drs. But I was
told, as the 3 came out I couldn’t get, the 2 would do. It was a gift from
someone not around anymore so not much I can do. I am disappointed in the
Fitbit company and wish they would reach out and do something as well as
fix the issues for those that can. At this point I don’t blame you and it
doesn’t look good as I was told of Apple Watch still isn’t a financial
option, before the pandemic and other things, the versa was a secondary to
what’s needed by the Apple Watch.

No mine isn’t fixed. I couldn’t update the charge 3 as instructed. It just went to lines by itself. Must be them. Very hard to scroll through now to see stats throughout the day. I’m very disappointed with Fitbit. My charge 2 didn’t last long either. Won’t buy another one.
