Charge 3 setup for child

We have bought our son a Charge 3 for his birthday (lucky lad) but when we try to set it up it says it has to be set up by an adult so I put my details in. It says you can then set up your family account and add a child. I did that but the only thing it will let me pair with is a Fitbit Ace which is not what we have. Can’t find anything that tells me how to set up a charge 3 for a child, help!

This is ridiculous.

I mean can you not just program the app so that if you put in an age below the legal requirements for social media then access to social media is automatically turned off and stays turned off until the age requirement is met.

It sounds like fairly basic programming, but you guys chose to make a different bit of hardware instead. What a joke.

Same problem.  Wanted to set up son's charge 3 as a child account on fitbit accoint but since this doesn't work, we are going to set it up on his dad's mobile phone with fake dob. How do we have to change the settings regarding resting heart rate, calory consumption, ect.

This is a ridiculous reason. By now Fitbit should be able to have any device be available for children as the generation keeps growing and getting more advanced. I guess this was my last attempt for for Fitbit now going fully into apple products.

I'm so happy that I have switched back to Garmin. I bought the IONIC after some persuasion from friends saying its a good activity tracker with lifestyle features. Used it for 6 months, the watch is horrible! GPS keeps dropping during runs, the synchronization to phone is slow and unstable, the firmware updates are slow and kept failing.

And now this. I wanted to pass this watch to my 11-year-old girl for simple activity tracking. Obviously the only thing to do with the IONIC now is to throw it into the trash.

Huge miss on Fit Bit's part. There should be a reasonable way for a kid to use their adult family member's old hand-me-down fit bit.

Yup, we just did this today.

This is the stupidest thing I can imagine. How hard could it be to have the app allow selection of any fitbit (as it is already coded to do!) and just sync whatever data is applicable to the child account. Fitbit, what a stupid company.

I should have seen this post earlier.

I was always a happy Fitbit user, but now I am very much disappointed with their stupid reason.

I bought Charge 4 to reward my son and couldn't setup. I saw this while trying to find solutions.

Now I will just have to create a fake account for him.
