I’m a long time Fitbit customer and a huge fan of fitbits precision, but extremely unhappy with the hardware durability. I have owned 7 fitbits and they all developed some issue (screen inexplicably cracked or band broke). Now my newest Fitbit charge 4 screen stopped working (no scratches or cracks whatsoever).The watch is still “working” but the screen won’t turn on. It doesn't seem reasonable that such an expensive and sophisticated product won’t last more than a year. I’m very frustrated and am now considering other brands for my next fitness tracker. Wish they had a better customer service too.

I have had 2 nd screen has stopped working, will not be getting another one, very disappointing.

Just to confirm, after trying the restart do you see any smiley on the Charge 4?
Do the green LED blink?

My screen just stopped tonight, after swimming. I washed & dried it; still blank. How do I "try the restart" without the screen?

Update: I was able to reset with it plugged in, but it won't charge. It only works when plugged in. I had bought a protection plan, so I've put in a claim.

Hi Juan,
I'm having the same issue. I've connected my Fitbit to the changer and held the side for 8 second. After vibrating twice, I do see a smiley face and that's it. My device does turn on after those steps. What do I do next?

Suddenly happened to me too. I've been sick with Covid since March 26th! I've been in bed the mostly sleeping. Suddenly the screen won't work, thought it needed to be charged, but even that won't fix it. Sometimes it buzzes when I press the button, sometimes it doesn't. I tried resetting and I can get a smiley face for a second to blink but nothing after. In fact sometimes it will buzz the whole time I have the button depressed, some times nothing. I can get buzzing that can last even without pressing the button for about 5 seconds or so. I can't reset, I can't sync, I can't 'change the clock face', hell, it randomly managed to sync at 5am for a second, and then nothing. oh... and now it gets hot if I try to have it plugged in... so it seems to be completely messed up. I haven't done anything since the 26th and I just have been sleeping and staying home mostly recently since I have covid. hell, my attempt at a walk the other day left me hacking up a lung after just 4 blocks... this sucks. I haven't even had it two years... Also just noticed the Charge 4 was released March of 2020... So... I guess it's two years and boom, broken?

I have the same exact problem screen stopped working on my Charge 4.. the tracker is still technically working.. it counts my steps, workouts and sleep but i just have a blank black screen. This is the second Fitbit tracker that I've owned that had a screen blackout.. the same thing happed to my Charge HR. It's very frustrating to pay good money for a product that lasts a year or less. Very unreliable Fitbit!

I am having same issue as of yesterday 4/9/2022. Black screen. Fitbit still working but it also doesn't sync anymore, even after resetting a few times (yes did see the smiley face). Noticed the green light was working before the reset but unit would not vibrate when touching button. I charged unit overnight, and after resetting, no green light, but unit vibrates when touched. Tried changing clock face too with no luck. Need direction. Can it be fixed, or do I need a new unit.

Yes, the smiley face appears, but I cannot do anything after that. It vibrates when I hold the side button, but none of the sensors light up. Tried changing the clock face as well. it did not work.
