I have the same problem, display is black, I did a re-start, also updated the firmware but my display is still black :-(. What else can I do?

I appreciate you share your experience with the Community and the troubleshooting steps performed. I'd recommend you follow these steps to restart your device.
You can also try to change your clock face, if this fixes the issue, you can change it back to the original clock face. If you are using a third-party clock face, please switch to a Fitbit clock face and try the troubleshooting again.

I have same problem with being almost black. I restarted, changed time face, etc.
Nothing has worked. Contacted customer support & same ideas you gave didn’t help.

Thanks for getting back but I tried both things you suggested and my Fitbit is still black. What else can I try?
It is very frustrating that every Fitbit I owned since 2016 has lasted around two years before something goes wrong…

My screen is black also. I've tried all the suggestions. Now it won't charge to full either.
