Discovered that the Charge is being discontinued.

That concerns me being that I just bought one a couple of weeks ago. I've already had trouble and they are sending me a new one. Don't disappoint me, FitBit!

As you purchased from an unauthorised seller, you are very lucky that Fitbit is helping you.  Fitbit "warrants the original purchaser".  That is not you.

The terms of the warranty, including warranting the original purchaser, are also ordinary business practice.

They will disappoint you. I have had two Charges and battery does not last two full days.

I'm happy that the charge hr is being discontinued because when you have a heart rate monitor it's two green lights that blink nonstop until you charge the Fitbit, so yeah the Alta is one of the only fitbit's I like.

I've had a terrible time with my Charge HR. First one I purchased broke within 6 months; they replaced it in June 2016. Now my replacement is physically falling apart, and they won't replace it. No wonder Fitbit discontinued. But interesting how they didn't mention that this week when I asked for a replacement. I've had a bad experience with Fibit products since September 2013. I'm on the search for a new step tracker that can actually handle daily use for more than 6 months!

SO disappointed in these products!

Hi.

I just got an email giving me the option of either a complimentary replacement to my Charge OR 30% off any other model.

Can you confirm that if i choose the complimentary replacement option, I will receive an Alta?

Thanks

Hi, @lyndsay83, you will need to double check with the Customer Service team, but my understanding is that the standard replacement under warranty for the Charge is the Alta.

I hope this is not the case as my band just started breaking. Bought it from Amazon and just passed 1 year

Hi.

This is the case.  I contacted them as my charge was falling apart.  I also bought mine on amazon over a year before.  They replaced, free of charge, with an Alta.

Hi,

So I received a Fitbit Charge HR for Christmas 2016. I had it on while I was sunbathing and it got warm so I took it off and put it into my bag in the shade. Since then the battery does not hold a charge for more than 2 hours. I reset the watch but it didn't make much of a difference.

I emailed FitBit customer service and since I'm still covered under warranty they said they will send me a new one. Unfortunately because the Charge HR has been discontinued, they only have L and XL available. My last one was a S. I'm not sure what the next step is...there is no point getting a watch that does not fit me.

Any advice is appreciated 🙂

See if you can get a Alta HR or a Charge 2 in a small band.

They hande each case differently.

Let us know how you make out with your claim.

So they found some S bands in teal or blue that they could ship to my mum in Ireland and I could get in the summer when I get home. However, I wear it all day everyday and I'd rather have a black one so I've taken the L Black on instead, they can also ship it to Qatar so I'll have it sooner. Hopefully it won't be too big and if it is I can sell it to a friend and get myself a S one. Unfortunate that they don't have the S but they have been extremely helpful.

Do worry!  I have a Charge HR and my second (a replacement for the first) has just fallen apart.  But all that is happening is that they are going to send me another Charge HR, similarly flawed.  So fitbit sold me a device that was fundamentally defective, replaced that with another defective device, and they have a third device on the way which I presume to be similarly defective as they have discontinued the line.  They need to either get to the core of the problem and provide people with a good product, or give us the new Charge 2 that they are going to replace it with.  Providing people with a succession of defective products until the warranty expires is not the right way to treat customers.

Well, my saga is now ongoing. It turns out they didn't have a L in Black
like they said so offered me a blue or teal one in S. Since I wear it
everyday I would never wear a blue or teal one so it's been passed onto San
Fran Head Office where they've offered me 50% off any Fitbit from their
website. Also not happy with this offer, it's only been 4/5 months since I
got it.

@aw123

I had the same offer, but I took the blue one. I felt that it was a pretty good offer as I have had mine for about 11 months.

I almost went with 50% off the Charge 2.

They sure look neat with the new features they have

Will the replacements be the exact same faulty model or the new Charge 2? If the old faulty models are discontinued, they shouldn't be the models replacing the $150 purchase.

I've had the same problem. The rubber around the screen came off and the band started falling apart. I got a no warranty replacement, it didn't work at all. Got that replaced, now the replacement of the replacement band is coming apart from the screen.

I've just ordered an alta HR and I'm hoping that because it's a detachable band there will be less issues. Time will tell. It's annoying because I love the functionality and the app, but the product just don't seem to be able to manage being worn every day. Forced obsolescence?

Funnily enough the same thing just happened to me. I got a replacement , and in less than a year the band is coming apart... Let's see what happens now....
