I’m having issues since the update, I can see my front menu screen but I’m unable to select them for detailed stats. When I press on it, it’s goes blue but does not open it up, i.e I can see it’s logged a run but I can’t go in to see the heart rate or distance etc, same for other menus, it does not allow me to drill down

Let me help you with viewing your data on your Fitbit app. Start by logging out from the app, restart your phone and log back in. Also check your phone's font size and change it to something smaller. Finally could you share some screenshots of what you are seeing on the app?
