Device not tracking Sleep Stages

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Despite making sure my fitbit is well charged and wearing it on every position imaginable up my forearm I can only get simplified sleep details but I used to get the sleep stage info regularly -  seems to have been an issue since end June last year - I assumed it was due to the fact I wasn't sleeping much but now that is sorted I'm still not getting the full info. Suggestions?

I’m having the same problem with mine. Not sure how to resolve this issue.

Hello @jhooker6 and @RickFit627, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and the details that were shared in your posts. There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages, find them as follows:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results you can  wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Let me know if you continue experiencing the same issue after taking into consideration the above information.

Unfortunately this is exactly the same as the info given on the screen and I have tried all of this. As before June last year I used to get the full info pretty much all the time, it suggests that something changed then - was there a software update around that time that could be responsible? I have even tried wearing it on the other wrist and that didn't work either! The only thing I have yet to try, but will do so later this week, is swapping the wrist band in case that is the issue as I certainly don't have the original band anymore but think the replacement has been on longer than that.

And changing the strap didn’t help either, so can only assume that some software update has stopped this from working 😞

Tried everything and makes no difference and as my post says it used to work 😞

@ RicardoFitbit ... thank you for the information and suggestions. I tried everything you mentioned, but I'm still getting the same results. Nothing seems to allowing me to get the detailed sleep stage results like I used to.
