Display on Charge 3 stopped working

I have just had to return my Charge 3 after only buying it on 3/11/18.

Display stopped working for no apparent reason. Store Tech said he had never seen it happen before. So replaced it. So not impressed.

Display restored.

Charge 3 with 20001.44.33

Fitbit App 2.84 (807)

iOS 12.1.1

My display stopped, today. Pressing the button would get me the little vibrator motor, but nothing else.

- Synchronizing worked fine.

- The motor buzzed if I got a notification.

Followed the reset steps here, and my display is back. No idea what caused it to blank in the first place.

I tried your fix ...and it worked!  So relieved.  The display is back and appears to be working normally.  Although the display had gone black, the Charge 3 was still syncing with the ap and vibrating notifications...but no display.

My tracker display shows only the main info, and will not scroll in any direction. It will not reset using your directions but still tracks and syncs.

My FB3 watch display stopped working this morning after 2 months. The “clock face change” tip worked for the main screen and it still tracks and syncs on my phone but no other data displays on the device display.

Hi,

My Charge 3 screen went blank this morning, so I charged it up and tried things out but still no screen but it would vibrate .

So I was ready to send it back until I read this answer, so I tried it and it worked.

Why does this happen?

Had my Charge 3 for 2 months and the display went blank.  I connected it to the cable and held in the button on the side for 8 seconds.  The smile came up and now the display is on.  This worked!

Welcome on board @CarterW! Thanks for letting us know worked for you. While reading your post I was wondering if maybe the new clock face you've set is no letting you to see other data? Have you try testing different ones?

Hey guys @Cedars and @Pirate21, It's nice to see you around the forums! I'm glad to hear that the steps worked for you. Thanks for sharing the outcome! Woman Very Happy

Thanks for jumping in here @MING8388 and for restarting your device! Have you tried changing your clock face?

I'd recommend performing the long restart:

  • Plug the device into the charging cable.
  • While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  • Remove your finger from button. Note: Device won't have a smiley face icon and should be off with a black screen.
  • Remove the device from the charging cable.
  • Plug the device into the charging cable again.
  • The smiley face icon appears on the screen.

In regards to your sleep not tracked, I'd recommend taking a look at this post.

Looking forward to your reply!

Had the same issue - no charge, no display, no sync.  Followed the instructions above and it seemed to work.  Not happy though, worried it will happen again.

I’ve tried recharging and holding button in but nothing. I bought min 2 months ago to replace my charge to so I could swim in it.  Any other solutions out there. I arrived on my holiday on Christmas Day and it just stopped 😕

My display stopped working today only 2 days after I got it for Christmas. I followed the directions you gave and it seems to have worked. I took screen shots of the instructions for later if I need them. I was disappointed to see some of the same problems from other users but I’m glad I came across the reset features you shared.

This is the second time I've needed to reset my FitBit. I do NOT think that this is a solution and marked as "SOLVED". This is a workaround. To use it as a solution, I would need to carry my charge cable with me 24/7. Has FitBit found the rout cause of this? Since a reset temporarily fixes this I am hoping there is a firmware solution that FitBit can make SOON.

Looks Charge3 has universal display issues. I lost my display within 3 months too, today. Any help anyone?

Try changing your clock facefrom the app ... some say that works (then change it back)

or try this:

  • Plug the device into the charging cable.
  • While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  • Remove your finger from button. Note: Device won't have a smiley face icon and should be off with a black screen.
  • Remove the device from the charging cable.
  • Plug the device into the charging cable again.
  • The smiley face icon appears on the screen.

Neither of these is a good solution (one requires me to keep my charge cable with me), but it might help

Now my Charge 3 will not sync consistently.  My Charge 2 does sync, but not my Charge 3.  If this keeps up I need to use the Charge 3 until it is resolved.  Hey Fitbit, how about fixing these issues.

It is issue after issue.  This is total garbage.  I am getting tired of the issues.
