Fitbit Charge 3 - Screen Not Working

ANSWERED

Hi Everyone,

Ive had my Fitbit Charge 3 for nearly a week now and was working fine up until last night.

When I woke up this morning the screen was not working and it wasn’t syncing with the app.

One the back of the device, there is a green and red light constantly flashing.

Ive tried pressing the side buttons and I have tried putting it on charge but neither are working.

Does anyone one have any tips on what to do?

Thanks

Thankyou for advice on how to restart  sometimes you may turn off by mistake  just connect the fitbit to your charger and make sure plugged into  a USB   then press the on/off button for 8 seconds if Charge 3  and smile face should appear it is then turned on and should be good to go

Welcome to the Community forums @Shalini78, I'm sorry to see that you've been having trouble with the display. Could y you please confirm if you already tried the standard restart procedure described here?

Thank you for your feedback about the product @Tennis_Ingrid, are you still having this problem with your display? It seems that you received a replacement previously, is this happening with the new device?

Thank you for your feedback @JohnSuperStar, and for taking the time to share these steps as well @hayabusa08

I know this is an old post but since it showed at the top of the Google results I thought I'd mention that for those of you who have tried holding the button down while it's plugged in/not plugged in and still can't get it to work, open the Fitbit app and try changing the clock face. That seems to work for me.

My charge 3 is also suffering from a blank screen. I have tried installing a new clock - didn’t work, if I charge the device and hold the button down for 8 seconds it fixes the problem for a few minutes before the problem returns. This needs resolving!!!!!

Hello @hayabusa08, sorry for the late reply, could you please confirm if you're still having this problem with the battery not charging? Please make sure that you've exhausted all troubleshooting steps in this article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device? If this problem is related to the display, make sure to try a restart procedure as well.

Thank you for confirming that you already tried the restart @GadgetMOnster, make sure to try the long restart process as well.  I've sent your information to the Customer Support team for further assistance with this, but was informed that you already have a case created or that you already got in touch with them.

Thank you for sharing this information @hayabusa08

My screen went blank today on the Charge 3 but I saw that it was connected to my phone, so I changed the clock face. The screen is now active again!

Having the same issue.

Screen went blank for about a week in mid March. After researching I tried the 8 second reset which worked the 2nd time.

Screen went blank again in mid April, and has remained totally blank and unresponsive since then. This time the 8 second reset didn’t work. Changing clock face hasn’t worked. The longer 15 second reset hasn’t worked.

Opened up a case with customer support (who replied very speedily and keen to help) so really hoping this can get sorted. Seems to be a lot of folk dishing out £150 for a product with a reliably unreliable display 🤨☹️

Hello @odane, it's good to see you around in the forums for the first time and thank you for your help with this @JohnSuperStar. Sorry for the late reply.

Thank you for the information you've provided about the display of your Charge 3 that is not working. Before considering other options, please make sure that you've tried the standard restart procedure described here and also the steps listed here below to complete the long restart procedure:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Regarding the return procedure, you have 45 days from the date of shipment to request a full refund. I could also send your information to the Support team for further assistance with this, please let me know.

Please keep me posted.

I've had my Charge 3 since the middle of December last year. This morning, my screen has apparently died. I tried all of the methods listed in this thread and everything else I could find to get it working again to no avail. It still syncs with my phone and tracks my steps, just with no display. I've taken pretty good care of this thing, so I'm not sure why it has decided to stop working. I did notice a line at the top of the display after the last firmware update, so I'm now wondering if that has something to do with this, as the screen was perfect before.

I'm still in warranty, but not quite sure what to do at this point.

I have to change the clock face about every month but that fixes it everytime.

I wish they would fix this!
