Fitbit Charge 4 turns off randomly

I have had my Charge 4 for 6 months now. Has been working great up until last month. Starting in the middle of December, started to turn off randomly even at full to 80% charge without any notice. Screen and side buttons are completely unresponsive. Only way to bring the device back is to hook it up to a charger, where I see the device turns on/resets with the smiley face. Then the device functions as normal. I do not notice immediately when the device turns off, but based on the heart rate data seems to be turning off/becoming unresponsive within 30 minutes - 2 hours after resetting on the charger.

I did not see this issue for the charge 4, did see a post for the Versa and the charge 3. Appears to be same issue or symptoms. Tried all the help items in these posts: rebooting device, clearing user data as a factory reset, and changing clock face. None worked, still keeping on having the same issue.

Wondering if you could help me out? I really like the Fitbit Charge 4 for the past couple months I have owned it, but this is not useable right now.

Hi, @McAffee welcome to the community, the symptoms you describe are unusual in a Charge 4. Assuming you are "rebooting" your Charge 4 as demonstrated in the second part of this video I wonder if you are experiencing a "Syncing" problem. These articles address the issue How do Fitbit devices sync their data? and Why won't my Fitbit device sync? , if you are still stuck I recommend you talk to "Customer Support" here.

Cheers

Hi @Gr4ndp4, thanks for the advice. Tried them without luck. The screen and button become unresponsive after about 30 minutes-2 hours. Appears that the device turns off randomly. Been having to do the second part in the video you shared, where I connect the fitbit to the charge cord, in order for it to work again. Been having to do this multiple times per day.

Will try Customer Support.

From call with customer support, this was tagged as a battery issue. Sending me a replacement. Hope this battery last longer, and that this does not happen to any one else!

These are similar to the issues I have. Mine have only occurred during runs, though.

I start the run manually on the device, but sometimes when I finish my run, the Charge 4 is blank and unresponsive. When I return to the house and connect it to the charger cord, it wakes up. But recently sometimes the run data is missing.

Maybe I should contact customer service.

Have exactly the same issue since a year with my Fitbit. More often than not my Charge 4 switches off during a run or other exercise, even if battery is full, becoming unresponsive and waking up only after connecting to the charger. As the warranty is not valid anymore, for me no use calling the customer service. With my fourth Fitbit, meaning years of experience, have concluded that they are made to last ideally over the warranty period, but not for much longer. Straps die even before that. Won’t be a fifth one.

Yup I gave up on fitbit - and just went to an apple watch. Short term they are more money, but I'd rather pay $600 upfront for several years than $149 every year. Fitbits are great in theory, but they are crap! I do prefer the app for fitbit though.

Good the same issue now. Can't even finish a 30 minute run as the device is always shutting down
