Help I let the battery run out and now it won't charge. I just get the unhappy face. What's to be done? Hardware problems?

There is a main thread for people getting the unhappy face which has some things to try:
https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-3/Sad-Face-or-Fitbit-logo-001-on-display/td-p/3130039
It seems that the first thing to try is a restart of the Charge 3:
Yes I have done all that, the problem is the charge 3 is not charging. I do not get the battery icon. I have cleaned the contacts and tried several chargers with no improvement. I have read other forum posts that indicate there may be a hardware problem?
I am having the same problem since last several weeks. Travelling abroad on 5/22 would like to have my fitbit charge 3 working
Please help
Best AnswerI have followed all the instructions and my Charge 3 is still not charging, it has run perfectly for 3 months and the last 3 weeks it has not taken a charge on the battery. Any other thoughts?
Same here. I've tried all the suggestions that I've seen here, and we have 2 of these Charge 3 so I am able to try swapping chargers but still one of them won't charge anymore. I guess it's time to return it.
The Customer service were very good, after trying a few things and them not working, they have agreed to replace it
Best AnswerSame! I've tried all the things; rarely, but occasionally it'll connect to the charging cable (affirmed by charging battery icon and haptic feedback).
What's been the resolution? A new charging cable, or a new tracker?

Best AnswerUPDATE: I managed to get a connection, confirmed by the haptic feedback and screen graphics, and have been able to successfully charge by cleaning the little prongs on the charger. I cleaned them with alcohol and gave them a light scuff with a nail file for good measure, and just for the sake of diligence, I also clean the little lights on the tracker itself occasionally.

Best AnswerHi. My Fitbit charge 3 has same issue. I bought it Dec 2018, and after 10 months (Oct 2,2019), battery wont charge. I tried different ways to charge it, even used my computer USB slot. Followed all i read online, cleaning it too, and nothing. It wont pass 4% nor show the battery flashing when plugged in. I even deleted all track info and reboot, etc. nothing... I called customer service and was told there is an issue with the battery not charging, so because of problems already agreed exists, and the watch still under the 1 yr warranty, then a new charger 3 tracker replacement will be mailed, ONLY the tracker, not the band or charger. I am happy this was the result and not throwing watch in the trash & hating the thought of wasted money, but sad and upset all my saved exercise info deleted and will have to start over.
If your Fitbit Charger 3 having battery issues, and you have tried all, and still under the 1 yr warranty, then call their customer service and get replacement. Dont wait till is too late. Also, I bought the Fitbit from Kohls, not directly from Fitbit retailer. Unfortunately, most department stores only return on 30 days max on any premium electronics. Glad that Fitbit company will help fix or replace even if bought else where. Really wish there was replacement battery to avoid all this, or longer lasting battery.
Mine isn’t charging either - it’s over a year old and has always been finicky about charging. This has happened before, but was solved by cleaning the contacts with alcohol. Now nothing seems to help.
I’m done with Fitbit - looking for another brand.
Thank you. This doesn’t work. I cleaned the contacts. With my phone plugged in, I press the button on the side and the only thing that happens is that the screen wake screen comes on. I’ve tried this 10 times now.
I fiddled with the Charge 3 after it was completely dead, and miraculously, after some more removing and attaching the charging cable, it started charging again. It's been working fine since a few weeks ago when I posted my complaint.
