How do I turn vibrate notifications off?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

No matter how much I try to get used to it, the vibrate notifications when I reach 10,000 steps is more than just a nuisance, it's a hazzard! I was injured because of it. After a walk I was working in the yard and was in a necessarily awkward position while I was turning an underground valve. At the most critical moment the vibrate went off and my involuntary reaction to it tweaked my back. The problem is not with me, it's with this device. So this device which is supposed to help me pursue good health injured me. Is my only protection to change my goals to some unreachable number so I don't get shocked?

You could change your main goal to something other than steps. If there's something you don't care as much about, like floors or calorie burn, then you could set it to a higher goal but still leave your steps at 10k.

I fully agree; vibration is such a nuisance. That's why I turn off call notifications and alarms on the Fitbit, and why I also disable all vibrations on my phone.

I have set my main goal as Steps and set it to a million (999,999 steps) as the maximum. I somewhat suspect that I could never reach a million steps in a single day, LOL!

@dweeb @PaddyLandau Your posts caught my attention since they have no reply and I'm sorry to hear that your Charge HR vibration feels uncomfortable. If you feel that the vibration is too intense, I recommend wearing your trackers a little bit loose so you don't feel the vibration so nuisance. If this doesn't work out, you might consider another Fitbit tracker such as the Surge or the Blaze, which have heart rate feature.

You can also try @kalimm's tips in order to avoid the intensity of the vibration of your Charge HR trackers.

@JuanJoFitbit Thank you for taking the time to reply, but I'm not made of money — I'm not going to buy a replacement product for this!

Wearing the product a bit more loosely is also not an option, especially as it doesn't solve the problem. Also as per my feature request (or, rather, remove-limitations request), I use the Fitbit to help monitor heart problems, not as a motivational buzzer.

@kalimm's reply is helpful, but it's a workaround, not a solution.

It is standard to be able to turn off vibrations on an Android device, and it should be standard for the Fitbit. It's kind of obvious, isn't it?

@JuanJoFitbit In what world is buying another product wiht the same problem a solution? Unless you're trying to say that the Surge or Blaze have a way to turn off the vibration, I'm not sure what your point is.

It's been close to a year, is there still not a solution to this simple problem?

I'm a MRI technologist and my Fitbit vibrations don't work anymore because I wore it too close to the magnet.. Fitbit still works! It just killed the vibrations. There is your solution 🙂 find a MRI scanner haha

Just got my Surge today an I already hate this vibration business more than I'd ever imagined. If FitBit doesn't move into the present, where people do not have to be pestered constantly by noises and feeling buzzing against them, then they've jumped the shark on devices altogether. Mine is buzzing even when charging. Annoying. We should be able to turn off like any other feature or alarm.

I've been using my Fitbit for a month now. I like the heart monitor,  the steps counter, and the sleep analysis  but after trying everything to disable notifications I came here to find a way to stop the buzzer. Considering how long users have been complaining it's obvious that a correction won't be forthcoming.

For some people the buzzer probably helps keep them motivated. For those who are self-motivated already, it's just an annoyance. I've enjoyed the features but I will no longer be using it.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that there’s no way to silence the buzzing. Mine buzzes when anyone texts me while I’m sleeping!! You gotta have a way to turn that off in the Fitbit app, it’s so annoying and such simple software problem.

I have a very lightly used Fitbit Blaze (maybe a week of use total)  in size L, Gunmetal series that does NOT vibrate since I forgot to take it off in the MRI scan room (I am a mri tech student). Everything else works perfectly.

I will sell it to you since I actually need a fitbit that vibrates (I use for morning alarm). Make me a reasonable offer if you want it. It will come with the original box, papers, and charger.

Thanks,

Steph

I hate the vibrate.

I have a heart condition and it shocks me awake.

It was a gift so I would hate to toss it out.

I hate, detest the buzzing! Horrid, jarring, disgusting. Want it off permanently.
