Incorrect floors being tracked

I have a Charge 3 and my stairs are adding up like crazy. Like today it's only 1pm I only have on 2,600 steps and it says I have climbed 6 flights of stairs.  I have climbed not 1 single stair let alone a 6 flights. I have reset the fitbit but it is still adding flights on quickly. Any help??

Hello @Krista73.

Thanks for bringing this up and trying to restart your Fitbit. I will be moving this thread to the Charge 3 board as I think it is better suited for it.

In this case I'd recommend that you read through this help article that explain why extra floors might have been counted. Do keep in mind that things like opening doors, AC, driving a car and drafts of air could cause to changes in air pressure and thus increase the floors counted.

Let me know if there are any further questions.

Im having the same issues, I drive 1.5 miles to a job with no stairs, I live in a house with no stairs, ( just two steps to get in) My charge 3 shows stairs climbed if Im off doing nothing, or working. My best day was 30 floors!!  Id be dead if I walked up 30 floors. LOL   Ive had the issue since day one, and it keeps getting worse!!  Tried twice on chat to resolve the issue, and that didn't work. I think I just may of gotten a LEMON for a Christmas present.

Hello @mustangsallywal.

Thanks for bringing this up and those details on the matter.

As I mentioned this might be happening because of changes in air pressure and movement. Having said that, you can manually delete those floors and steps that you have gotten while driving or not actually doing those floors.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Sorry, I don't find this helpful. Basically, you're telling me to carry around a little notebook so as to log all the flights of stairs I climb. Then, at the end of the day, I can "correct" my fitbit using the data in my paper-and-pencil log book. So, what's the point of the fitbit, then, if I have to keep a paper log to make sure the fitbit stays correct?

My floor count is totally wonkers the last 6 days.. Its the same type of weather here in Pittsburgh as always.. so cant be the pressure or anything .. I have no interest in manually deleting the floors ..or physically counting them. .I just hope its figured out.. no way did I do 100 floors yesterday

I have noticed this issue on escalators recently even if I am just standing on one it adds 2 or 3 flights of stairs. Annoying!

I have the same issue.  I just purchased the Charge 3 because I wanted to track swimming.  I live in Florida which is as flat as can be and I live in a ranch house.  Yesterday it tracked 40 flights of steps and I didn't climb one step.  This is very disappointing 😞

The proceedure to manually delete floors doesn't work. Besides that, we shouldn't have to. How about a firmware update. Floors and steps counts are inaccurate.

Amen! I agree!

I've notices this has gotten worse since the last update....

YES I totally agree  I marked it as solved because everything the moderators were telling me was EXACTLY the same thing and it DIDN'T work. I'm just very frustrated.  One day I did 34 floors and after that I quit looking at it. Yesterday I did 6 floors and I did none of the things the moderators told me causes floors to add up besides drive.

I walk around a flat parking lot to get my hourly steps in and it counts it
as 2 floors...

I wish it was something they would look at since so many people are having trouble...

Over the past month, my iPhone tells me that I've averaged 9 or 10 floors per day while my FitBit tells me that I'm averaging something like 32-35 floors a day. I never go anywhere without having my iPhone in my pocket, not even to the bathroom at night. So, the two comparisons are telling.

One problem with the FitBit is that it doesn't distinguish between climbing a flight of stairs and walking up a hill. I do a lot of walking, so some of the discrepancy might be related to walking up a couple of hills when I take my dog out for a ramble.

That being said, the FitBit should call it something else than flights of stairs, because clearly the FitBit isn't set up to log flights of stairs. Given that the FitBit is wildly inaccurate in other ways (e.g. according to the FitBit, I regularly walk 400-500 steps in my sleep), I wouldn't hold out any hope that the FitBit folks will fix anything.

Worked 5 hours today (yes was on my feet) and have only been on my best about 6 hours. I only have 3,838 steps and 7 floors. I have not seen a step all day. Literally not one single step. I wish they would fix this.

They don't want to fix it. I posted in the latest release thread about the issue and some "moderator" deleted my post as cross-posting...

Under the rug it goes...

This is NOT a solution. It's a description of some of the causes of the symptoms.

We want a fix, not a fancy way to describe the problem.

I have the same problem. It started in April. I didn't changed lifestyle or anything. I never had this problem before so I'm sure a change in air pressure, AC, driving are the problems. The Accepted Solution is actually unacceptable.
