I have a Charge 3 and my stairs are adding up like crazy. Like today it's only 1pm I only have on 2,600 steps and it says I have climbed 6 flights of stairs. I have climbed not 1 single stair let alone a 6 flights. I have reset the fitbit but it is still adding flights on quickly. Any help??

I have been having this problem since moving from Charge 2 to Charge 3 in March. I log 30-40 floors a day and I live in Florida, where there are no hills, and live in a single story home. With my Charge 2, it was a struggle to find a flight of stairs to climb in order to attempt to meet the floors goal. In fact, I lowered the goal to 5. Now I can get floors just sitting at my desk. Out for a walk and I log about a floor every couple of minutes. This is ridiculous. My husband demanded a replacement device, but alas, the replacement device does the same thing. I hope this can be fixed with firmware.

This is not a solution. Not acceptable.

My stairs aren't being counted. I've worn a Fitbit for several years and just upgraded to the Charge 3--I am so disappointed. There are problems with all aspects. It doesn't track my sleep, it doesn't track stairs accurately. It doesn't correctly sync with the website.

Hello there @lgpiper, @Krista73, @SunsetRunner, @mustangsallywal, @MonicaMon, @CRMcDaniel, and @pjuls!
I totally understand how are you feeling. I appreciate your feedback for the Fitbit environment, customer service and devices. This has not gone unnoticed and be sure that I will pass this along.
Fitbit has been designed to provide motivation and help you to reach your daily goals to success. Please know that we provide feedback to our team based on community posts and we are always working on improving our devices and overall environment based on that feedback.
Remember that the wrist trackers count steps depending on the movement of your arms, when you are driving or for example when your tracker is close to a fan, your tracker counts steps due to the vibrations. You can learn more about how your Fitbit tracks steps by checking the article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?
If your device is tracking steps while driving, there are 2 ways you can prevent this:
1. You can plug your tracker into the charging cable while you are driving -- the Fitbit will not count steps while it is charging.
2. You can log the driving manually by following the steps in this article
Let us know if there's any questions present, we'll be around.
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

I commute to and from work on a motorcycle - always get 30 to 40 flights - I actually only walk up 3 flights a day at work. If I go for a ride on the weekend I can get 20,000 flights. I turned off the "badges" for flights because it is obviously something not earned. Now it won't even sync - getting ready to throw it in the drawer and go back to not wearing a "watch". If I wanted to wear just a watch I could have purchased something that looked nice for $20 at Walmart.

The whole point of the device is to do the tracking so I don’t have to!!! This issue is significantly worse since the last firmware update. What did you change and please change it back!!

My charge 3 says I climbed 19 floors already this AM. Have not climbed higher than stepping up on a sidewalk curb couple of times. This needs to be fixed. Telling us to delete number of floors is rude and condescending.

This is all well and good, but still not a solution. This wasn't an issue with the charge HR or the Charge 2 HR so what is the issue here?
Today I have apparently climbed 51 floors but the fitbit has been in my back pocket all day due to work environment - so no opening doors, no change in air pressure, wind or any other made up "science" reasons.
Driving home last night I achieve over 1000 steps which again never happened with the charge or the charge 2.

I’ve just done 47 floors walking to the grocery store and back. It’s all flat.
Going for another walk now so I might make 100 floors today without climbing up a single step.

My Fitbit Charge 3 (3 days old) is tracking unbelievable numbers of floors. Today so far I have climbed 67.

My Charge 3 occasionally credited me with stairs I hadn't climbed. However, the other day I did the update and now it seems to say I am climbing stairs all day long!!!! Nothing has changed as the how I am using it, I have tried wearing it tighter and loser, makes no difference! Tried resetting it, this is ridiculous! Please tell me there is some other solution.

Same problem here. But it is not just the stairs, it seems it also gets the Activity and Calories wrong as a result.
Been using the Charge 2 and now the Charge 3 for quite some time. It only recently started to do this. It’s annoying, to say the least.
While driving, it recorded 173 floors (see screenshot).

What is the point in having this function on charge 3 if it totally misguides its wearers? Better get rid of it completely. I get some 150-200 floors every day, which makes no sense at all

Mine seems to be recording a flight of stairs for every 100 or so steps!
This is crazy.
But it really just went haywire and started to play some different music or alarms really loud! Scared my half to death, how could this be possible????

Agreed. Charge 3 is supposed to have an altimeter and I bought it partially for this reason. I just got 42 floors after 54 minutes of mowing the lawn! There is no change of altitude or atmospheric pressure to trigger the floor counting. I don’t want to change the activity to driving to get rid of the floors because I want to keep the steps and active minutes. I know I can delete the floors indicator but the real solution is to fix the bug or at least gives us a way to edit out the wrong floor counts for the time being!
