I have a Charge 3 and my stairs are adding up like crazy. Like today it's only 1pm I only have on 2,600 steps and it says I have climbed 6 flights of stairs. I have climbed not 1 single stair let alone a 6 flights. I have reset the fitbit but it is still adding flights on quickly. Any help??

Mine was fairly accurate also. The recent update is when it started going haywire. I rarely do stairs, but now it seems that’s all I do! Yet went up and down basement steps yesterday and it didn’t count that?! It doesn’t seem to give me steps in the car though. However yesterday I was congratulated about my 7 hours of activity, this came when I had only been out of bed for 4 hours and certainly was not very active. As for elevation counting as stairs, using an elevator going up to 14th floor twice today didn’t rack up any stairs!
I really feel that I can’t count on anything to be remotely accurate anymore. I wish the thing had a system restore feature. I was actually wondering if they weren’t somehow hacked and that’s why the update screwed it up.

LOL! It’s almost become a joke! 149 floors for the week in a one-story home

A couple of weeks ago I was on holiday in Greece where walking up and down steep hills was a daily requirement. Although I've returned to the flat landscape of the Netherlands, my Charge 3 still seems to think it's on holiday.
I live in a 2nd floor apartment and might typically clock up just four floors per day (28 per week). Last week, however, my device registered 178 floors, including 32 yesterday when I was actually sat outside on our balcony. It should be noted that weather conditions were very still.
Apparently, I've done three floors today already, and haven't even been out.
As per forum suggestions regarding this issue, I have done a device reboot. However, this hasn't helped.

Hello @LanuzaFitbit,
So, I noticed it is still not solved and this thread has not been updated to reflect the ongoing problem still existing for many Fitbit users. I am rather disappointed about this whole thing.
IT IS NOT SOLVED!
@LanuzaFitbit wrote:Hello @mustangsallywal.
As I mentioned this might be happening because of changes in air pressure and movement. (...) Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Here are further questions:
My assessment:
The inaccurate stairs count seems to get more problematic when it's warm weather and/or the air pressure is higher. It seemed better for a while, but recently, the Fitbit started to get the problem of registering more stairs than actually climbed.
69, 47, 56, 30, 39, 75, 42, 75, 37, 47, 35 - All on warmer days or when the air pressure was higher when I did not climb so many stairs, but was actually driving in my car.
I now question any and all readings, as I can't trust it to be correct. Can I trust the other counts? Does it calculate the right calories? Is it giving me other bogus information?
For comparison, I added a couple of screenshots. I mean, 173 floors in one day? Seriously? It was a 900+ km drive across Europe. 68 floors, while I was driving back. And 75, 56 and 69 floors when it was 30-40 degrees? This is ridiculous.
173 floors - 1019 hPa - 24c
68 floors - 1018 hPa - 22c
47 floors - 1020 hPa - 19c
75 floors - 1021 hPa - 22c
75 floors - 1024 hPa - 34c
56 floors - 1016 hPa - 39c
69 floors - 1011 hPa - 28c

12 floors max. Not 62.
With 29c and 1015hPa today, I may have gone up 12 floors. I did ride a horse, but I did not take it up any stairs.
Funny as it may sound, it is pretty annoying to constantly have to think about whether the activity you are about to begin needs you to disable a function of a wearable that you bought to make your activity tracking smarter.
What’s even more disappointing is the lack of feedback and the absence of even the slightest “I hear you and we’re sorry” comment by a Fitbit rep.
Moreover, cross-posting threads seems to be discouraged as it may show people with similar complaints that many are facing the same issue. Simply switching those posts to “solved” is not helping at all.
Fitbit, please understand that customers are spending time on this in the hope of being heard. It is not a battle. It is a request for assistance.
”No” is also an answer. If you know you messed up, please just say so. Let customers know you acknowledge the problem, and explain you can’t solve it. Changing your FAQ after the fact is seen as twisting yourself out of this.

Another day, another misreading. In other words: another day at the office, with maybe 10 floors up and down.

@Krista73 seems like you have updated to the new Fitbit experience with the changed dashboard. If that is the case the following may help:
https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2435
Personally I’m using the old dashboard and I have no intention of changing yet.
Also seems like you started this thread and accepted a solution for the floor counts problem. In fact this issue is still on-going. Perhaps you can undo the solution tag or flag a moderator to do it for you.

I agree with you that this is a bunch of BS. I continuously get a ton of floors and it is not true (sometimes the floors are in the 100’s). I live in Florida in a o e story house. If I correct it by adding a driving record then I loose all the steps I took in that time period which makes all my information incorrect. I have tried restarting the unit. This tracker is not accurate which is overestimating my calories burned.

I have the same problem, my less than a week old Charge 3 not registering stairs. I went through the suggested method to cure the problem of resetting it but to no avail. The first two days it did record the number of times I would go up and down but the last two days it didn't. The first day of the problem it only registered twice. Today it only registered 3 times.
On the Fitbit itself it also displays 'Sleep not tracked' although it has on the app.

The first company in my experience which sells top devices and totally ignores the customers' requests. It is bad but I need to throw away my fitbit, 120$ down the drain.

Yes, my Charge 3 has all the same "floor" issues mentioned here. I only have 3, 753 steps this morning and my Fitbit shows 29 floors. ? I have not used any stairs or gone uphill.
