The term "waterproof" doesn't tend to get used these days. Instead, a product is declared "water resistant" to a specified depth. As can be seen in the following help article. the Charge 3 is water resistant to a depth of 50m so it is fine to wear it in the shower, swimming pool or ocean.

Unfortunately, we tried to use our Charge 3 in swimming pool for the first time and it's no longer working. It is not even turning ON now. We had purchased this Fitbit Charge 3 ~two years ago. Worked great till now (we didn't take it in water activities till now). I talked with customer support and tried to do reboot but not working. I am told that I may be able to receive discount for new device since this one is out of the warranty (I'm not sure if I will go with Fitbit as water resistant is important need for kid activities).
Moral of the story: Not sure it is really water resistant. It may not perform as expected so use at your peril.
PS: I've recently also purchased Versa 3 and not taking in for water activities forever.

Hello everyone. @shk75 Welcome to the community forums.
I'm sorry for the experience and thank you for the detailed information and feedback. I also appreciate your help in following some troubleshooting steps and I'd like to let you know that most Fitbit devices are water-resistant to 50 meters. They're designed to be swimproof and stand up to even the sweatiest of workouts. For Kids, Fitbit Ace 3 is also a device that is water-resistant to 50 meters, but for more information, I recommend visiting the following help article: Can I swim or shower with my Fitbit device?
For your concern about the Versa 3, this is another water-resistance device but I recommend taking a look at the recommendations above and here. In addition, if you experience any inconvenience or if you still have additional questions or inquiries, please reach out to our Support Team and they will be more than glad to continue assisting you.
Note that phone wait times are longer than normal, so I recommend initiating a chat.
See you around.

I had the exact same problem with a fitbit charge 3. After two years of occassiinal use, and by the very first time since i got it, I spent half an hour swiming in the sea, and the tracker stop working. Green lights in the back got off and even when the devices turns on connected to the charger, it quickly goes off again after a couple of minutes. I'm really sad.
Side note. Between 2018 and 2019 I had some issues with my honda crv 2018. Honda not only fixed the issues but extended the warranty to six years.
I think charge 3 was defective, and you should act responsibly.

Alvaro Hi!.
I had no luck with the reset directions. Now the Charge 3 keeps vibrating as I push the side button; No more happy faces or other life sign 🙁

I'm sorry, Wilson, but this is a big lie! Well, theoretically, it is what fitbit says (water resistant)...but I had two fitbit charge 3 that "died" in the swimming pool and you could see that the sensor was full of water...A friend of mine, even worse, lost also 2 fitbit charge 3 taking a shower!
Even if you search "fitbit charge 3" and "water inside" at google images and you will find many many people, other than me, complaining about it.
You should update this information more accurate.
