Issue with consolidating steps between tracker and mobi

I find myself frequently pushing a stroller and cart with the arm wearing the Fitbit. I keep my cellphone in my pocket to record steps using the secondary mobile track by Fitbit. This correctly records steps but then when I sync it up to my Fitbit, the step count on my phone is overridden with the data from my tracker which is usually zero steps because my arm wasn’t moving. Just tonight I had 11500 steps from my walk (I was pushing a stroller), but when I synced up to my phone it went back to the number on my fitbit which was 10520 steps. It basically took away credit for those steps I had taken. It seems the issue is when the app is trying to consolidate data between the tracker and mobile track.

I expect the tracker takes precedence.  Try not wearing the tracker when you want data from phone.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I suspect that as well but I was previously told it consolidated data so I thought that it would still credit me the steps because the tracker recorded zero for the same time period that the phone recorded steps.

I suspect, even when not wearing tracker or getting zero steps, as long as the tracker and mobil track are connected to the app, the tracker takes precedence.  Here's what you might have to do:

Right before going for walk, sync tracker, then remove it from the app.  Go for walk, get steps from phone synced to app, then add tracker back to app.

It's up to you whether it's worth the bother to try that.

 

An other option would be to put the tracker in a pocket or pinned to your clothing.  That usually gives good step count, but at the expense of losing heart rate data for that time.

That is the issue I’m finding. If I want to get accurate steps I have to sacrifice recording heart rate which gives me a more accurate caloric burn for the day (at least I think it does).
