Not receiving Text Messages

My Charge 3 is not receiving text message notifications. Before anyone tells me advice on what do to I have walked through several troubleshooting steps directly with the FitBit telephonic assistance. This message is to inform the community that I am one of MANY other Charge 3 users with this problem and to share my disappointment with this product. I am a cancer patient working with oncologists, heath counselors and psych through the healing. My husband bought this for me as a gift through my healing process. I am completely disappointed.

My husband resolved the problem on the iPhone settings;

Setting notification > messages > enabled (green) MMS Messaging & send as SMS

Then Rebooted the Fitbit

Sorry I’m not savvy with these things. But how do you reboot the darn thing ?

Reboot: swipe to the right 3 times, click Settings, scroll down to About, scroll down to Reboot device.

The reboot does not impact any Data stored on your phone. Be sure to visit visit your FitBit app to ensure that you’ve synced up to your Charge 3 again.

@Websterlkw you can also plug the Charge 3 so it is charging, then hold in the button for 15 seconds.

This is simply restarting and you won't loose any step data recorded since the last sync.

Below you will also see a link to fitbit's awesome interactive, searchable Help site

@ChristinePalomo no data is ever stored on the phone or tracker. A sync is only successful when the data is saved on the server in the cloud.

Thank you for the tips ! I ended up getting it to work and figuring out the reboot in the settings 👍 but good to know about holding for 15 seconds at the charger as well. Thanks again have a great day 🙃

I’ve had the same issue (among many others) with three different fitbits. They have never been resolved no matter how many customer service representatives I spoke to and how many resets/settings/iPhone updates I have gone through.

Their have been plenty of users who have had the messaging issue on iOS fixed. However as the banner above points out some still do not have this working.

So why does it work for some and not others, Fitbit is still working on it.

In any case the trouble is in the phone and the Fitbit app, not the tracker.

I have a different phone and a different account. And a different Fitbit...

It seems like the last update for the iPhone impacted this.

I have tried EVERYTHING! I even upgraded to the Charge 3 hoping it was just something with the Charge 2. Nothing worked that I tried in the forums.

I am getting notifications of phone calls and events on my calendar. But one of the main reasons I have the charge is for the notifications about texts. I might have to find a different tracker if this isn't fixed or Lord forbid, an apple watch

What to do when ur not getting messages on your charge3 but I am getting phone calls

Best Answer

Same problem for months.   Fitbit's Customer Service can't resolve it or fit it.  They should of had it fixed by now.   I think the only way is for everyone who is experiencing this issue is to stop using the Charge 3 and let Fitbit know we are going to another device.

@Stasiu if you would like help, please start a new thread, and include the type of phone that is giving you this issue.

The problem is not the tracker but the answer will be found on the phone.

Sorry, but this is not a phone problem, but a Fitbit issue. I have seen other with the exact same problem, including myself! I have done, and so has everyone else, EVERY STEP  from the phone and the charge 3 and my charge 3 still does not receive text messages! From what I understand, from other threads and from talking to someone from Fitbit, that they are aware of the issue, and are working to resolve the issue. So far, no resolve. But I also did read that there might be an update at the end of this month. So, we will just have to wait and see! Hope this helps clear things up a bit

If your tracker receives phone call notifications, email notifications, and other notifications, but not text notifications, then your tracker has notifications set to be received.

The Fitbit app is sending everything but text notifications. It is either a setting on the phone or a setting in the Fitbit app on the phone, or maybe a Fitbit app issue.

I keep reading that after contacting Fitbit iOS users where stepped through the phones settings.

Of court's the issues on iOS are not related to android users. The fix for the one will not work on the other.

This is definitely same issue I am having! I have an  iPhone 8. I have reset and rebooted, Fitbit, uninstalled and reinstalled Fitbit ap, and turned phone off and back on .
I have double and triple checked all the notifications settings and am so frustrated. I can get calendar alerts, some other ap alerts I set up, but phone calls and text alerts will not come through ☹️

@Marina067 the issue above is that all notifications come through, but texts. You say that you also do not get phone notifications. Have you tried initiating a test through the app.
