Notifications suddenly doesn't work anymore

My Fitbit (Charge 2) worked perfectly fine for more than a year and then suddenly I didn't receive text messages on it anymore. When someone calls me I (sometimes) receive a notification but no texts.
All my settings are correct (I never changed them) and I tried resetting, but with no luck.

Does anyone has had the same problem?

I tried following steps (I emailed Fitbit) and it works again:

  1. Restart your tracker following the steps How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  2. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon >  your device image.
    1. Tap Notifications.
    2. Turn off all notifications
  3. Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device.
    1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and find your Fitbit device in the list.
    2. Find an option to forget the device.
  4. Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone.
  5. Reboot (Turn off and on) your Samsung phone.
  6. Turn the Bluetooth back on.

Have had various problems with phone, including not receiving text notifications.  I have spent endless hours searching and reading forums, performing various possible solutions that haven't worked.  Even spent several times in chat with techs but only got a temporary solution.  Phone would not sync or give text notifications.  Tracker is working but nothing shows up on computer or phone.  The only solution to this that I have found is to restart my phone on a daily basis.  Sometimes that still does not solve the problem.  The problem with the notifications is that my phone is no longer,( after a year) a compatible device.  Searching the Fitbit devices supported, the Samsung J is a compatible, but under the J category there are more that 50 types from J2 to J7.  My bluetooth will sometimes find the Charge 2 but says unable to pair.  When restarting tracker, I never get a 4 digit number or a screen to enter the number.  I find it very frustrating that this no longer works the way that it should.  Fitbit may becoming up with new technology but some of the people are being left behind. I no longer feel comfortable recommending a Fitbit.
