Recording wrong activity

I started my Fitbit on activity Run at the beginning of the Park Run yesterday.Whilst my time and distance were correct, my GPS tracking didn't record the while run and then decided I had been running on the spot - which fed through to other apps and I cant see how to change this!

@Callym66 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with your activity missing your GPS distance. I suggest you refresh the link between your phone and your tracker by doing the following:

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  • Restart your phone and restart your device
  • Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  • Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  • You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Let me know how it goes.

Funnily enough a major update came through for the phone so this was kicked off on Sunday. I've unpaired the device and cancelled all battery saving options. After adding the fitbit back to the phone I triggered a run activity this evening - time and heart rate only was recorded, no distance or calories. Rather annoyed!

Did you manually start the run from the wrist?

Yes, if on android you want to disable battery management for the Fitbit app.

Yes I did that.

Today two walks recorded correctly with full data and maps so hopefully
whatever was going on has now cleared up. Next run tomorrow - cross fingers!

Morning Run - checked - Bluetooth engaged, Battery Saver off

Triggered Run from Fitbit

Tracked pace, distance but not route - not updated to Strava

Lunchtime Walk - checked - Bluetooth engaged, Battery Saver off

Triggered Walk from Fitbit

Tracked pace, distance, mapped route (kind of) and updated to Strava successfully

Did the Charge 2 during the morning run show that it had a gps connection?

Well signal is usually pretty good around here as have always had good
records until this month. Had this fitbit for nearly a year now. And the
Monday run was is a really good area for gps signal - no-one else had issues
