My fitbit Charge 2 often fails to recognise that a) I have gone to bed, and more frustratingly b) have woken up in the morning! Is there a way I can tell it 'I'm in bed now' and/or 'I'm up now'?
Many times now I have got out of bed, walked downstairs, taken off the fitbit, had a shower, shaved and only when putting the fitbit back on, has it recognised that I'm awake!
Any ideas?

@PCurrah A warm welcome to our Community! Sorry for the delay in my reply.
Let me help you with your sleep detection. Your device will start recording sleep after it detects an hour of inactivity. If you have a light sleep or move too much then this may difficult your sleep detection. Additionally you can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand to decrease the amount of movement it is subjected to. Finally you can restart your device. You can also manually log your sleep time. You can read more about sleep detection here. Once you are awake make sure you move your arm so it detects movement and knows that you aren't sleeping anymore. Also check that your tracker is detecting your heart rate so it also checks the difference when you are awake.
Let me know how it goes.

I am having a similar problem, and it is only recently (a few months?) that the behavior has changed. Although the stats show my start time while I'm still reading in bed at night, that seems reasonable if there is no period of activity. Then, in the morning the end time does not seem to pay attention to increased heart rate and steps as I get up and move around making breakfast, etc. It clearly shows in the graph about 30 or 40 minutes of solid awake time, but that should result in an end time near the beginning of that span, not moments before I first sync in the morning.
I have seen suggestions to restart the device, so I'll try that and post back with an update. Otherwise, it seems like the models that interpret the overall data and render the sleep analysis are failing to use these obvious clues, where they worked fine before.

Thanks for the suggestions, but none have helped. Last night's sleep record shows me 'up' at 5:39 this morning, by which time I had showered and shaved already! It seems to me that this has been a problem since the software update which introduced sleep scores, around September time. Could there be a link?

Hi ChasPro716! I think you are right about this being a recent (few months) problem. In my latest question I have asked if the behaviour changed with the software which introduced the 'sleep score' feature. Seems logical. We'll see. Any better for you?

Im having to same issue with the sleep detection. I in paired, deleted and reinstalled the app. Re paired. But nothing. Also show less steps than the actual fitbit.
Help. I don't want to have to buy a new one of these.
