Tracking exercise stopped working in app..

Best Answer

Hey @Bhnj, it is great to see new members around! Robot Happy When you say that the exercises tracked stopped working on the app, do you mean that after you synced, the activities are not showed on daily exercise part on your Fitbit app? If so, let me ask you this, what are you using to track your activities, the SmartTrack feature (the option that auto recognizes exercise) or the multisport? (the exercises on the Charge 2 itself). Did recently changed something on your activity?

Keep me posted so I can help you out. 😉

Hello, same problem.  My app showed 30 minutes of exercise and then I went for a walk so should be showing 60 minutes of exercise but it shows 0 although I have 15 floors climbed.  I tried to add my 30 minute exercise again but it won’t take it.

My watch states how long I exercised, but the tracking function has stopped working. In addition, I am no longer getting notifications on my watch although the notification is on

Same issue here. Not getting credit for all of my workouts!

Mine is still not working either, off and on the last couple weeks.

Did what support told me to do. It tracked before what's the problem...

What did support tell you to do?

How long have you had your Fitbit? Mine is maybe 1-1/2 years old.

Hello guys! I hope you are doin' great!

Let me explain to you that SmartTrack recognizes activities based on the continuous movement of your arms. Sometimes, motions such as placing your arms on the bar of a treadmill, or pushing a stroller while you walk, may interrupt SmartTrack. Additionally, stopping in the middle of an exercise may interrupt the activity tracking.

By default, SmartTrack recognizes an exercise that lasts at least 15 minutes. If your activities aren't being recognized, lowering the time auto-exercise recognition setting to 10 minutes may help ensure they record properly.

For more information about how SmartTrack tracks activities, please review our help article: What should I know about SmartTrack exercise detection.

If after trying that, your Charge 2 still not tracking your activities, let me suggest you to restart it by following these instructions.

Let me know how it goes guys!

Hello, thank you for responding, but the problem is that it IS showing my 46 active minutes in the activity tile, but not counting it in the exercise tile, thus not counting it as exercise for that day. We’re talking activities like running on the treadmill and walking the neighborhood.

Hey @wendin, thanks for the clarification! 😉 Ok if the activity doesn't seem to be counting in the exercise tile, I suggest you the following:

- Reboot the Bluetooth on your phone

- Reboot your phone

- Log out/log in to your Fitbit account

- Restart your Charge 2

- Sync it

Let me know if that works! 😉

Hi, I’ll try the above, but it wasn’t just my phone. It wasn’t showing up in the exercise tile on my computer either.

Hey @SunsetRunner, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! Sounds pretty cool that the exercise tile appears on your Fitbit app again. I appreciate the update. 😉

Give it a try to those instructions @wendin and let me know it that works. Now in regards of the tile missing on your Dashboard, could you please tell me, are you using a Windows 10 computer?

The tile isn’t missing. The workouts are not all showing up in the tile.

Thanks for replying back @wendin! Something I cannot see on the previous post is if you're using Multi-sport option or SmartTrack to record your activities?

Exercise (multisport) mode on Fitbit Charge 2 lets you see real-time stats and a workout summary for the exercise you select, then saves the information in your exercise history.

To track exercises with this method, you have to do the following:

  1. On your tracker, press the button until you get to the Exercise screen.
  2. Tap to find the exercise of your choice.
  3. Press and hold the button to start the exercise. If you see a phone icon at the top, that exercise offers connected GPS and your phone is connected to a GPS signal. If the phone icon has a line through it that means your tracker is not connected to your phone or your phone is not connected to a GPS signal. If the phone icon has an animated dashed line next to it, that means your phone is trying to find a GPS signal. If your phone is running the Android 8 operating system, make sure the Fitbit app is allowed to run in the background.

  4. During your workout, tap your tracker to scroll through your real-time stats or check the time of day.
Note: During exercise your progress toward your maximum heart rate is shown on an indicator next to the number of beats per minute
  5. To pause your workout, press the button. Then press the button again to resume the exercise.
  6. When you’re done with your workout, press and hold the button to stop recording. You’ll see a flag icon and a congratulatory message.

  7. Press the button to see a summary of your results. With each button press you’ll cycle to a different set of stats. You can view your exercise summary one time.

Sync your tracker to store the workout in your exercise history. There you can find additional stats and see your route if you used connected GPS.

On the other hand, as my friend @HeydyF says hereSmartTrack recognizes activities based on the continuous movement of your arms. Also by default, SmartTrack recognizes an exercise that lasts at least 15 minutes. If your activities aren't being recognized, lowering the time auto-exercise recognition setting to 10 minutes may help ensure they record properly. And as you may also know, the minimum time to get 'Active Minutes' is 10 minutes.  So you could walk for 12 minutes, get  credit for 12 active minutes, but that not be long enough to be 'exercise'. This could be another reason why you're getting only active minutes. To get detailed information about how the active minutes are earned, check this post

We've found that some customers have a better experience with SmartTrack if they try wearing their tracker on a different wrist. Because SmartTrack recognizes activities based on the continuous movement of your arms, in some cases, changing the wrist that you wear your tracker on can improve activity recognition. Remember that if you change your wrist, you should also change your handedness setting. For more information on how wearing your tracker affects accuracy, see the article How accurate are Fitbit devices?

To further investigate, would you verify the following details:

  1. Are you stopping in the middle of your exercise? As this may interrupt the activity tracking.
  2. Is this the first time your tracker did not recorded your exercise?

Last but not least, I'd like to confirm if you've restart your Charge 2 by following these steps

I'll be around, keep us posted!

Track exercise

So wont track exercise. Did a Fitbit step challenge alongside some actual exercise and since Sunday has recorded nothing. I’ve deleted app, disconnected Bluetooth and reconnected and charged and pressed the sides to recalibrate Fitbit when in charge mode?

My charge 3 is not recognising all exercise. I work out in the gym 2 days a week and play golf 3 or more days. I am getting only one time registering.
