I have not used my charge 2 since last August due to injury. I just charged it today and logged into my dashboard but it will not sync. Last sync date, August 2018. I have tried repairing my device but no luck. Any suggestions?

Try deleting the app
make sure you have your login email and fitbit account password handy
(hold icon until it wiggles, then delete)
reinstall from app store.
login
touch the index card in the top right
add your Charge 2
